British Boxing Journalism and MTK

Given the recent ‘revelation’ of a certain back room figure in MTK and his influence in the boxing world (of course on here and on twitter concerns have been raised for several years), I wondered what British boxing journalists have had to say about the MTK setup,
either over the years or more recently?

They won’t let MTK put shows on in Ireland, I think I’m right I’m saying? So I imagine there’s already been a fair bit of chat in the papers over the water.

But what about the boxing press here, or the likes of Bunce? Has someone put a microphone in front of him or Costello on the BBC and asked them about the Kinahan/MTK link? Or, like, Gareth twathead, lol I don’t imagine him being too critical somehow

I’m just wondering if it’s openly discussed or some kind of open secret or what, I don’t consume any boxing journalism nowadays I’m afraid so I’ve no idea what their track record is like in terms of journalistic ethics lately.

If was was a journalist I wouldn't write bad stuff about them, I'm careful what I say on here!

I don't like to see small time boxing journalists taking stick for this. You have to understand their positions. If you want to give someone stick I'd look at the multi million pound corporations like Sky/Bt etc rather than some journo. Why should a small time journo touch it when they won't?

I'm just glad Adam Smith apologises for the language. Shows how much they care about viewers and boxing.

Yeah they sort of go in on it for about half an hour. Irish journo is interviewed who fires most of the bullets mind (pardon the pun) but fair play to them for not dodging it like a lot of the mainstream media. It’s blew up obviously following Tyson’s topless announcement on socials about the AJ fight. Bunce essentially saying he knows DK has been a mover in boxing for years but can’t get his head round why there’s such a keenness to move him right into the limelight now. Arum clearly loves the geezer. I laughed when they said Uncle Bob calls Dan “The Captain.” Haha.

Another interesting point from the pod is them saying Saudi Arabia or Dubai would be out as a venue between June - Sep due to it being too hot. That’s a fair point. I was in Dubai last September for the UFC and the heat was just crazy. You are just diving from gaff to gaff basically trying to find hotels and bars with air con. Hope they get the fight on whatever happens it will be FU**ING MASSIVE!
