Tbh there is no rush for him atm. I think Canelo is gonna fight a lesser opponent in September then have a top opponent in December if all things works well. Possibly GGG III or BJS. :TU:

I'd be surprised if he fights this year.

Well yea, who’s going to pay him? Dazn need money first unless there’s some clever clause that can see Canelo avoid being sidelined.

Canelo is a rich fighter. He could retire anytime and live good.

According to Alvarez's long-time trainer Eddy Reynoso, Canelo plans to fight twice at the end of the year and has four opponents to choose from, with his next bout potentially taking place during September, followed by another contest during December.

Billy Joe Saunders, Caleb Plant, David Benavidez and of course Gennadiy Golovkin are in contention to become the opponents for both of those bouts.

Team GGG say that they won't face Canelo until after the Kamil Szeremeta fight, which means the Kazakh could face the Mexican during December.

Why would he need a tuneup? Everyone is inactive

Canelo have miltimilion deal with DAZN. With no or limited audience, they cannot afford top oponent so i wont be surprised if it would be Anthony Dirrell. Hopefuly im wrong

look at fighters like fury they go years with out fighting , i dont think boxers need tune ups, i think a lot of the tune fights are to get used to the big stage fans ect.. but none of that matters now

Fury had 2 tuneups

However if literally every fighter is inactive there is no meed for a tuneup.

Dazn is on the brink they are going to force canelo v ggg next if it kills them

Obviously I don't have any specific details...only the rumour that they are in financial trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced the fight for a future date but both had fights in the meantime. GGG against his mandatory and Canelo against a cheaper but popular fighter such as Mungia or Lemieux. Maybe they would hope that people who sign up again for the in-between fights and just keep their subs rolling until GGG Canelo 3. But then again, how interesting is GGG Canelo 3 for the masses? Of course I'd watch it but Golovkin is clearly faded and/or fading.

I agree. DAZN needs new subscribers more than it needs to appeal to the ones it already has. Predict his next fight is Canelo-GGG this year. Probably in a bubble in Vegas. There's no way they can push Canel vs BJS or anyone else without a normal promotions tour, and GGG vs Canelo III is the biggest fight of the year if it happens in 2020.

BJS remains suspended with no date set for his hearing as yet .

He’s only fought three time’s since beating Lemieux in December 2017. That win should’ve been springboard moment in his career

According to the Journal Quebec, promoter Camille Estephan and Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez are having discussions about Canelo facing David Lemieux on the 12th September.

“David is indeed in the discussions,” said Lemieux’s promoter Camille Estephan to the Journal de Montréal. I spoke to Eric Gomez (one of the bosses of Golden Boy) on Thursday about this.

“We are still at the early stage in this file. It will depend on the offers made to us. One thing’s for sure, David is not going to fight for a bargain.”

For the record, Canelo and David Lemieux are fellow GBP stablemates, so the bout should be easy to make.

Just PLEASE, no Garry Osullivan. Cannot believe that bum is still in talks with world alite. Lemieux is also disapointing, but considering corona situation, i can take it. Sullivan Barrera willing to drop to 168. Eubank jr is very interesting to me as Canelo oponent

He would make a mockery of Eubank Jr and most likely stop him. It might also improve Canelo's image....I'm pretty sure Eubank Jr is not well liked. Canelo gets to display his far superior skills, he most likely looks good while beating a generally obnoxious boxing personality. That's a win, win and build's hype for a more meaningful fight.

Actualy, Eubank brings some serious threats on the table, mostly his volume punching, excellent stamina and exceptional toughness. This would be very interesting fight
