Eastman looked alright versus Joppy and even Hopkins yet Howard has no work rate, is one-paced and dimensional with poor stamina and slow hands. If that is world-class you can keep it thank you very much. Godoy went the distance with Louis but his skills were not world-class, going the distance could be equivalent to acquitting yourself well but how hard is it to KO a fighter who has his mind set on this?
So Lacy aquitted himself well vs Calzaghe? Tito vs Wright?
No Eastman didn't acquit himself well in any of his title fights. He would have lost by a much clearer margin but for a flash KD in dying seconds vs Joppy. Plus Joppy was on the slide and was mentally suffering the effects of a kicking vs Tito. He would go on to lose a shut out vs Hopkins. I would say he was world class, due to his wins - but he was also clearly better than Eastman.
Eastman would then lose a shut out vs an aging Hopkins (who would lose his title in his next defence). Robert Allen did a better job vs Bernard.
Do I class Eastman as ever being world class, its a close one because against division 2 level fighters he looked the real deal - but when he stepped up he never looked like winning a title. So probably not, incidently I thought Robert Allen was always better than Howard and I'd probably consider him world class - he might have beaten the likes of Joppy and Holmes.
With Howard its kind of like with Jackson Asiku and Askinaenen (EBU Middleweight champ)... The look the bomb at lower level, so I have probably.... well I know I have... called them world class on the forums, but thats more a prediction of how I think they'll copy in world class more than anything else. If they lose (and don't look like winning) at world title level then I'll put my hands up and say, okay I got that one wrong. As I have done with Howard.
