Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
15 rounds, the 77-78 version of Ali vs the 85-86 version of William's, who wins?
Re: Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
Ali beats Williams by decision, and that's the truth.

Re: Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
Even if he is post-prime like 1978, Ali would still win against Carl.
Re: Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
Probably Williams would win. It could be about the same fight as Williams-Holmes, where Carl got robbed. However, Williams could tire in the second half of the bout and blow the ending, maybe even get caught there.
Re: Carl Williams vs Muhammad Ali
Ali would box circles around Williams. No doubt.

Manilla was in 1975, he still had time.
He still won against good fighters after Manilla; Jimmy Young, Norton, Shavers etc.

Ken Norton was robbed terribly in their 3rd bout.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:07Manilla was in 1975, he still had time.

C'mon man, that wasn't Ali. Everyone knows he left much of himself in the ring vs Frazier in the Phillipines.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:07Manilla was in 1975, he still had time.

It was razor close. I had it a draw most of the times I watched it.gilgamesh wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:28Ken Norton was robbed terribly in their 3rd bout.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:07

True, what I meant that he still had the ability to win against very good fighters after Manilla.oogiebe wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:45C'mon man, that wasn't Ali. Everyone knows he left much of himself in the ring vs Frazier in the Phillipines.Tevfik1907 wrote: ↑30 Jun 2020, 21:07

Yeah, but I'm right on this one though
You could argue the margin, but it's either 9 rounds to 6 Norton, 8 rounds to 7 Norton or 10 to 5 Norton. Ali didn't win.

Funny thing is, it was UD, not even SD or MD
.
Either way, I think Ali vs. Norton 3 was close, and I wouldn't complain if it was a draw.
