What are some myths or common misbeliefs out there

Willie Pep won a round without throwing a punch

Ali getting an extra minute vs Cooper (Enry the sore)

Arm length matters more than reach

You have to clearly beat the champ to win on the cards

A round where you get knocked down is automatically 10-8

Tyson could have beaten anyone in history at his peak

You have to really take the belt of the champion.

Folk don’t believe that Leonard ducked Pryor. I personally think it’s the truth. Forget the weight. Pryor was a lunatic and all wrong for SRL.

Tyson punching holes in the wall before Spinks right.

There’s also a story about Tony TNT Tucker and a cuddly bear...

Normally it's true as the champ is the home fighter and for any away fighter to win, they have to win big, esp a few years back without tv and vid etc

Contrary to popular belief, Tony Bellew’s nickname isn’t actually a reference to the Manchester Arena bombing after an Ariana Grande concert.

Question.

Do you think Sky told him to say that or he just thought, ah what the heck, just something for me to say in my annoying voice, and just said it himself..

It just seems to me like something that a guy with far more ego than talent would improvise. He probably realised how stupid it sounded just before it finished burbling out of his mouth

Right, it's certainly something that may be true in practice. Doesn't make it a rule though! Or indeed justifiable.

Smith would probably read that and take it at face value thinking it shows what a good commentator he is

For the first 4 rounds Smith has a pre written script.

I imagine that his scriptwriter had the hump and played a joke on him.

Shhhh wrote: 01 Jul 2020, 11:02 Your punch is the last thing to go (errrr Kovalev eg.) Age decreases muscle density and explosiveness. This has to be bs.

Also AJ doesn’t do PEDs cos he never failed a test (nor did Lance Armstrong)
Lance did fail (sporting myth) in 1999 and to save its cash cow and keep the gravy train rolling the UCI gave him a backdated TUE to explain the corticosteroids in his body, Lance repaid their kindness by 'donating' a total of $125000.
Its considered possible that if Armstrongs tests were screened properly his cancer would have been detected sooner like Alan Stubbs did.

what, a seventy year old will have retained the muscle density etc of a forty year old?

why would humans do anything but deteriorate with age along with every other animal on earth?

Douglas as a 42-1 underdog vs Tyson.

As I understand it, one Casio had Tyson as 1-42, which is different.

Never been able to find the odds for the UK, but very much doubt you were getting that price at Ladbrooks
