Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 11 July 2020
I'd suggest you'd have no chance of staging a boxing event behind closed doors this summer. The NHS is going to be so massively over-taxed, to the point where there will be temporary hospitals in dozens if not hundreds of hotels, that the last thing on earth they are going to have the resources to deal with is a boxing event and the possible medical treatments needed for the boxers.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 11 July 2020
No chance of it taking place then either. I wouldn't be surprised if we get no more live action this year.

Joe Joyce heartbroken and out of pocket after investing in two failed training camps
Joe Joyce's manager spoke exclusively to BonusCodeBets.co.uk on the heartbreak of the cancelled April 11 fight date
The co-Owner of S-JAM Boxing said, "Joe was absolutely heartbroken. He's been out the ring since beating Bryant Jennings last July. Since then, he had his Marco Huck fight cancelled in January, so he's had two training camps now, peaked twice, and had no fight.
"It brought us to tears knowing how well Joe was doing, what had gone into camp, the sacrifices he had made, the cost of the sparring partners we'd brought in.
"The reality is we paid for flights for our team and the sparring partner from the UK. Then we were paying weekly for four US-based sparring partners. The UFC training facility, the very nice villa we were living in out in Vegas.
"We are talking thousands and thousands of pounds and I'm not talking about small thousands - big thousands - all invested into a camp that you can't claim back because boxers are self-employed. It's absolutely heartbreaking."
Olympian Joyce was due to face Greenwich powerhouse Daniel Dubois on April 11 at the O2 arena in London, but the COVID-19 pandemic has consequently seen the fight date pushed back to July 11 instead.
Sam Jones: Joe is still training hard... it will still be the same result whenever it takes place
"At first, we were trying to put it to the back of our minds but then it became a serious problem. Flights were getting cancelled. We were hearing Donald Trump could make it difficult for us to get back to the UK, so we needed to make a decision.
"We were very much prepared to finish the camp in the UK, prepared to fly the coach over. There was talk of fights happening behind closed doors, but it would have been unfair. Both boys deserve the biggest night of their careers, inside a packed O2 arena. We eventually got told it was near-on impossible for the fight to go ahead and we were given July 11.
"It's a worldwide disaster but things will settle down. Unless something crazy happens, I am very confident and wholeheartedly believe it's going to go ahead on July 11th.
"We were at the business end of camp, so Joe is now having a week off with his family. He'll then start ticking over with his strength and conditioning coach and look to head back to the US, or Ismael Salas will come over to the UK. We haven't quite decided that yet.
"It's going to be a different date with the same result. Joe is going to stop Daniel Dubois. It's going to be a car crash at the O2 arena and it's only going to end one way.
"This is the biggest fight of Joe's career, five or six belts on the line, the winner goes on to a guaranteed world title shot. The date has been pushed back but this fight will happen - the fans have demanded it.
"Everyone is in the same boat, businesses are going to be affected by this. I feel terrible for people that are going to lose their job over something that is completely out of their control. When you take a step back, you also realise there are lots of people way less fortunate than you.
"There's a lot worse things happening to people than this fight being cancelled."
'Juggernaut' Joe Joyce and 'Dynamite Daniel Dubois are still set to meet, although whether there will still be a ban on public events in July is yet to be seen.
When they do finally meet, the unbeaten heavyweights will have five belts on the line in their domestic showdown - British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver, WBO International, and the vacant European heavyweight titles!

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 24 october 2020
Press Release
British boxing’s Heavyweight super-fight between unbeaten KO Kings ‘Dynamite’ Daniel Dubois and ‘Juggernaut’ Joe Joyce will now take place at The 02, London on Saturday October 24.
The showdown between British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver and WBO International champion Dubois and fellow Londoner Joyce, an Olympic Silver medallist, had been scheduled for July 11 but the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the date shift.
Government guidelines will continue to be strictly followed but with lockdown being eased promoter allegedly is optimistic that the battle, dubbed ‘Seek And Destroy’, will finally take place in October.
Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs) and Dubois (14-0, 13 KOs) are within touching distance of a world title challenge and the winner will be in line to land a mandatory contender’s position with one of the major governing bodies, as well as adding the vacant EBU European Heavyweight Championship to their trophy cabinets.
Warren said: “It will be a fight to remember and what a boost for British boxing.
“Everyone wants to see it. Lockdown has meant a delay, but we all want the fight to take place in October and we are hopeful that the government will give us the all clear.
“What a position the winner will be in. They will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021.”
Dubois, 22, who is ranked number five by the WBO and seven in the latest WBC ratings said: “I’ll be ready to go in October for sure.
“It has been tough during lockdown, but I have ticked over and I’m back in the Peacock gym helping my sparring partner Dorin Krasmaru get ready for his behind closed doors fight on allegedly’s bill on July 10.
“Hopefully in the near future I will be able to get some good overseas sparring in. I’ll be ready for October 24, so I hope Joe is coming prepared.”
Foe Joyce, 34, won the Commonwealth title in just his fourth fight and his best win came against former WBC world champion Bermane Stiverne via a sixth round KO in February 2019. The London man aims to top that victory when he tackles Dubois and doesn’t mince his words when discussing his young opponent.
“It was great news to get the new date so I can finally punch up Dubois,” said the Putney man who is already highly ranked by the WBC.
Joyce is ready to rev up his training and added: “Obviously once lockdown started I had a good idea we wouldn’t meet in July, but I was always staying on top of training.
“Now gyms are open for athletes I can kick on and just keep my focus on the new date, finally settling the score with Dubois and moving on to a world title fight.”
Existing ticket holders who cannot attend the rearranged date can get refunds from their point of purchase.

It was an especially big shame to lose such a fight. As well as Povetkin-Whyte. Hopefully nothing spoils it again.

Doesn't seem concrete if Fwank is saying "hopefully the government gives us the all clear" - I mean in terms of selling tickets already ?
Hope it goes ahead, and no doubt it will be on BT PPV too....

Joe Joyce: A lot Are Picking Dubois To Win - I Can Prove Everyone Wrong
Undefeated Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce is viewed as the underdog, but he plans to shake up the heavyweight division when he faces fellow unbeaten, Daniel Dubois.
Joyce is even more motivated in the underdog role, aiming to prove the critics wrong.
“You just don’t know who is going to win. I think that when the fight was made, a higher percentage of people were picking Dubois, but that’s great because I can prove everyone wrong," Joyce told British Boxers TV.
“He has been built very well by Frank, he is explosive, hungry and he’s ready to go, it should be a tough nights work for me, but I believe I can – you know I didn’t get here by not having any skills and I just want to prove that I’m the best in the Warren stable and rise to the top. It’s going to be an all-action slugfest, that’s why everyone wants to see it.”

It was on BT PPV anyway so that won’t change.
It’s a brilliant fight and I can’t wait to see it. I’m having my money on Joyce by KO because of his seasoning against the likes of Usyk, Yoka, the Croatian, Jennings. All very good heavyweights at pro, amateur and Wsob.

Not a given it could happen in October. Surprised they didn’t just ahead with a closed doors fight.
Of course I know this means vastly less money for all concerned.... but the against possibility of another cancellation I would rather have a fight signed and sealed. That’s just me though.
Joyce doesn’t have a lot of time to waste at 34.

Is the Yarde- Arthur fight off? Postponed? Any word?
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 24 october 2020
I've not seen much to like about Joyce. I think he's to slow and flat footed, Dubois will take it for me, but I'm not sure if he knocks JJ out. Joyce has shown a really good chin and can ship a shot or two. Either Dubois will win by a decision or he'll stop Joyce late on. I'm mainly just relieved that the fight has been rescheduled. With everything going on at the moment I felt for sure when boxing came back this fight wouldn't come back with it but happy I was wrong

Joyce is so poor that it's an affront to the sport of boxing for him to be successful at a high level. Dubois should restore the natural order in this one. Joyce being successful in boxing feels like a hyena beating a male lion in a one on one fight. Boxing is the male lion and it doesn't take kindly to someone like Joyce trying to take it on. I'm expecting a hiding here. Boxing is quite strict about levels and if you try to disrespect the sport by trying to compete at a higher level than you are capable of, you usually end up on the wrong end of brutal punishment.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois - 24 october 2020
Joyce will be difficult to beat, good chin, a big unit with a big engine who keeps on coming.
If Dubois can't bomb him out early he will be taken into deep water and then we will really see what he is made of.

Agree on the hiding, Dubster will batter JJ. Only if he has an iron chin and top flight stamina does Joe have the chance...if Dub punches himself out. Either way Joyce will have to go through a poounding
