Who is more popular

Post by Cent0089 »

I have this question. Who is more popular in US, Daniel Jacobs or Charlo brothers ?

Well being an English man I wouldn't actually know, but I'd guess it's Jacobs he's been in with the best fighters in his division and done well. Plus he has the back story of being the miracle man. Surely even the yanks wouldn't like those overrated gobshites more than a legit world class fighter. Ok yes they would

I'd say Charlo brothers, but >99% of Americans haven't heard of any of them. I'd say Pacquiao is the only boxer 5% of Americans have heard of, sadly.

The Charlos are popular in the US amongst boxing fans. Especially the African/American fanbase.

Dat Afro Amurican luv

The Afro American boxing community love Haymon more than any active boxer, it's kinda weird/fetishist tbh, the guy hardly says a word or makes an appearance and never boxes. Seems even lamer than the East Euro crazyfanbois, at least they jizz to boxers who actually box

lol you should see all the Haymon is gawd warriors. There love of certain fighters stems from them being PBC/Haymon, that's the first priority. Al Haymon love is all over the afro american boxing scene moar than love for any active fighter. Forums are divided along haymone/non-hayon lines. When PBC firsts years 'free!!' it was like a war zone of haymonites vs the rest. Dude has all sorts of twitter accounts dedicated just to blowing pbc and him too :oo

He gets the hate too , such strong feelings evoked for an unseen , unheard non combatant

Twitter, Youtube, Boxing Scene, etc....have you not been around the block? Haymon is easily more popular than any current boxer among the 'afro american boxing community'

Charlo brothers because there a little younger and even though Jacobs has story the record of the Charlo and some believe they both still should be undefeated and some fans have put much more hope in them then Jacobs. Charlo's are the choice.

Neither. The only people who know them are boxing fans, in which case I'm sure they're just as familiar with both.

Outside of Pacquiao, there isn't a household name currently fighting in the sport.

Joshua, canelo, ggg and fury to name but a few, are on the same level or above Pac man.

So those boxers are not household names? Fury I would say is more popular then Pac man now, and the rest are on the same level, but 90% of people in america don't actually care about boxing anyway so no one would be a household name in all fairness

None are well known, I'd guess Jacobs off the feel good story.

The Charlo's having gotten more TV exposure are probably more well known.

None of the 3 are popular.

It's true. It's been covered on The Athletic.

This is probably behind a paywall but the article is about exactly what Thatcher is saying: https://theathletic.com/1075181/2019/07 ... -zealotry/

:TU:

It's impossible to miss if you've been around the 'online boxing community' for a while, at least the american one. There is a whole legion of Al's PBC warriors, who put him before any active fighter. Maybe cause this is a British based forum we see it less here

Tbf, he gets lots of hate too, the most divisive unseen advisor we've had

I've participated in livestreams on LDBC channels and haven't experienced it. Assuming it comes from those sources Haymon gets mentioned, but not nearly as much as I've seen regarding Eddie worshippers. :maybe:

Don't know what to say man, it's been all over (article wouldn't be written if it was just me being crazy) it was most intense when PBC was starting out and still fresh

Eddie's sure not loved by most on this forum

No but on some channels, folks come to his defense if/when he's attacked. To be fair, I don't get into or pay much attention to that other than hating on Don King which I completely support.
