Bruce Curry

Should Bruce have been given a third fight with Wilfredo Benitez to clear up the air? He was robbed in the first fight, only had 10 days for the second fight. Seemed to have been given a raw deal.

This is what happens when you score fights by rounds, not points. I believe that if the first one would've been under the points system, Curry would've received the decision.

As for the second match, Curry's management took a big gamble by having him fight in Japan nine days beforehand. They lost that bet.

Curry was a fine fighter, but Benitez was a level above. I think Wilfred sweeps the trilogy.

Wilfred seldom trained for fights - virtually none for Ray Leonard - so I don't think the short notice was an issue. Benitez was a better fighter, Bruce won the first even though he gassed and Benitez came on late. There was no demand for another fight and Benitez was moving up to 147.
