He would've been dominated by Golovkin at Middleweight.

Even the people he beat at 154 were blown up Jr. Welterweights and Welterweights. The one time he fought a guy who was naturally that much bigger than him, Canelo, he fought him when he was green and very young.

If you match Floyd with a guy like say Winky Wright at Middleweight, maybe he can win.

Hell I could see him outboxing Tito Trinidad as a Middleweight.

But you wouldn't want to go too crazy with who you match him with.
Canelo had 43 fights had been pro for 8 years and had been WBC world champion for 2 years running at that point. Please stop with this bullshit narrative of Canelo being green.
He was only 23, and hadn't fought a fighter at the level of Floyd yet. He's fought quite a few Elite opponents at this point, but he hadn't really yet at the time.

I ain't saying he was a complete novice, but he was Green by Elite Title fight standards.

Canelo has improved a lot and developed much deeper experience, it's not just Austin Trout as his only strong opponent now.

He at his best still has a style made for Floyd though, at most he'd only do marginally better

Floyd would have been beat by winky wright. Winkys defense and jab would have beaten floyd rather easily

Floyd beats:

Tito
Mayorga
Taylor
Pavlik

Loses to
Ggg
Wright
Martinez

I could see paul williams going either way

Fun game but 160 was a bridge too far. Floyd was calculated with opponent selection

GGG is slow and hittable, he's much more powerful but does the power get there?

At Middleweight?

Golovkin would've most definitely got there. He wasn't too shabby of a boxer to go along with his power.

I don't know if he'd beat the very best Pavlik. I think he'd have a better shot with Wright.

The Pavlik that had gotten into heavy drinking and lost his title to Martinez, yeah Floyd would beat him.

He struggled to land any clean shots on Canelo , who is an inferior boxer to Floyd

I could see that. With pavlik i look at how he struggled with hopkins lateral movement... but he could hurt floyd if he landed

Wrights jab was took quick to counter over. To beat him it was volume or mugging him inside. I cant see floyd doing either

That was more GGG being apprehensive about the power of the counters coming back from Canelo. Sure, Floyd is a great counter, but I can't see GGG concerned enough to stick with jabbing Floyd, which would still give Floyd trouble.

Lets put it another way. If maidana can jab floyd to the ropes and stun him with punches ggg can. Ggg has a tremendous jab and is a big puncher

He could win a decision over Floyd if need be. He's not a superior boxer to Floyd obviously, but I think he's physically strong enough that he could bull him to the ropes, and pound away at his body, shoulders, arms and the occasional clean head shot and just outwork him. Whether he could knock him out or not.

I don't think Floyd would be able to hit him hard enough to get his respect, and make him fearful of the incoming. So he could essentially attack with abandon.
