Decision was OK. Volkanovski had a pretty good argument for winning rounds 3-5. But it was definitely a result that feels inconclusive and unsatisfying.

Masvidal is garbage. Didn't even watch the last two rounds. Thought max edged it and aldo took like 30 completely unnecessary flush shots.

Usman is a boring ass fighter with that octopus style of his. He had a gassed fighter in front of him and still couldn't KO him. Dude doesn't deserve any big paydays. I hope Covington comes back and KO's his ass.

Holloway got jobbed. He hurt and wobbled Volkanovski several times and won the first 3 rounds. Some terrible judges scorecards last night especially the judge who scored it 30-27 for Salikhov over Dos Santos. :witzend: UFC is turning into boxing with some of the scoring. If this shit continues I might just have to stop watching like I did with boxing.

Usman is really unlikeable. I just want to see someone, anyone shut him the fuck up.
Same. Mas isn't the guy. I still think Covington is. That first fight was great, even going in to the fifth. Colby is smart--he'll have adjusted his gameplan for the second go.
Credit to anyone who was certain Usman would win. I wasn't certain about any of them, but my friend told me Holloway had the best chance of upset so I should have went with that.

I only went 2/4 on the big fights and could very well have gone 1/4 if the Holloway decision went the other way.

Hopefully we get Usman/Burns, Yan/Moraes, and Zhang/Rose next. I wouldn't mind Volanovski/Holloway III but they rarely do trilogy fights like that so I assume we'll get Volkanovski/K-Zombie or something like that. Also hell of a debut for Prochazka, maybe someone like Corey Anderson next for him.

Masvidal is a journeyman. I think he's a decent fighter, but the whole resurrection/street Jesus thing was nothing more than marketing to sell merchandise to flavor of the months kids who are looking for a new hero now that their Irish flags are in storage. The BMF thing was a really cringe worthy attempt to find a third win for Mas, but hey, hopefully they sold some of the $900 BMF belts they had for sale

Usman is the most boring fighter I have ever watched, and I am not joking. The other famous lay n pray guys like Fitch or Shields were usually giving up size and strength. Now that we've got this nonsense out of the way let's get that Covington rematch. Or I guess they need to do undersized Burns first but at least he poses a few threats.

Prochazka was by far the most impressive last night. I hate all that goofing around, but he absolutely obliterated Volkan. He's instantly a top 5, and one win away from a title shot. Santos/Glover are engaged, Smiths next loss is scheduled, and Blachowicz is fighting Jones. That leaves either Reyes or Anderson. Either of those fights would be good!

Anderson is a good call. Usman/Colby, yan/sterling & Zhang/JJ for me.

I would like to see Colby actually beat another contender before getting a rematch with Usman.

I am actually a big Sterling fan and he really did get screwed here. He deserved a title shot a year ago but Cejudo was too busy dicking around ruining the division and the UFC never made the fight they should have. Now he sees 2 guys ranked lower than him fight for a vacant title. But having said all that, Moraes is still the rightful #1.

Are there other contenders at WW? I guess Leon Edwards could be a reasonable fight for Colby given he's strung some wins together but Colby is pretty clearly in the top two (maybe top 3 depending on Burns) of the division and he knows it so not a lot of reason for him to fight down.

I wouldn't mind seeing Colby shut out Woodley, though Woodley's recent performances don't do a lot to sell that match. I don't see anybody else exactly surging for a title shot right now.

I think the possibilities for Usman are:

1) Burns
2) Colby rematch
3) Edwards rematch (I didn't even remember this but Usman beat Edwards way back in 2015)

I would like to see the Burns fight happen, and then maybe Colby/Masvidal and Edwards/Woodley to sort out the next contenders from there.

I also wish they'd have made an attempt to sign Lima when his contract was up, but the UFC no longer seems to attempt to sign Bellator fighters since Brooks and Held were busts.

Time for Joe B. to retire. He still looks fine in terms of physical ability, but his chin is just gone. Every shot hurts him.

Fuck Usman. GSP doesn't owe him squat. He retired before Usman was in the picture. If Usman would stop acting like a damn octopus and try to stop his opponents then maybe he would be making big enough money that he wouldn't feel the need to try to lure a legend out of retirement to enhance his own earning power.

Why are you so bitter with Usman? It’s just a sport man, he’s out there winning fights anyway he can.

Because he is boring and acts like he deserves huge paydays. You want to earn huge paydays then don't fight like an octopus. I get it his style is very effective and works for him but fans don't enjoy it. Also calling out a retired legend to build your own name doesn't go down well with me.

He does deserve huge paydays, he’s the UFC champion.

Why does this bother you so much?

You deserve huge paydays if you can make people pay to see you. No one wants to watch his octopus style and rightly so as it's boring. The only fight of his that was exciting was the Covington fight because Colby made it so that he couldn't turn it into a hugging match.
