Froch versus Graham

Post by Bodyshot3 »

The Froch CV.

The Nottingham man has the the world title belts.
The better money in the bank.
More championship class fighters beaten on his resume.
He was also a career SMW.
And he could ruthlessly finish or box when required.
Superb chin, ferocious competitive attitude.

But somehow Graham....."the best modern Brit to never win a title" could have perceivably pulled off a shock with his far quicker hands, ability to move in and out of range effortlessly and slip shots with almost casual ease.

Would Herol have simply been too quick and elusive for Carl; got his man hitting air and despondent as the rounds slip by? A great win on the cards for the Sheffield genius perhaps.

Or does Froch, who found a way to win so many times and worked hard; finally hunt Graham down?

It is a lovely fight for me....I will go with Herol wining the early rounds, making Froch looking silly and a tad clumsy at times but ultimately getting tagged and stopped late in the fight.

Interesting, Herol would not be a good match for Carl stylewise, he really wouldn’t. I‘d have to go with Froch as well though. He‘s the bigger man. I also think Carl was better inside the ropes than he sometimes looked when watching from outside the ring. How‘d he beat people like Taylor and Kessler. He obviously had something, the X factor if you like.

In a way theyre a bit made for each other. Graham the type of guy who could give slow hittable sometimes bumbling Frochy nightmares early and make him look ridiculous, but Frochy one of the last guys you want to fight if you fade and struggle to end strong

PFP, Graham at 154 and 160 was better than Froch but by the time he was at 168 I think Froch beats him. If we are talking a peak Graham making the move from 160 to 168, it's Graham by a comfortable decision, imo.

Thanks guys.....great to have a natter :salut:

For me.....there would have been points in this fight when Graham was winning rounds and Froch would have looked concerned and seemingly lacking the answer.

But I can see a point where Froch gets close and simply shrugs off Graham's shots.....Froch had a top engine and Herol was also someone who could and did make mistakes. And when the door was left ajar; Froch frequently grabbed his chance.

It is still one of my favourite mythical fights, along with Benn and Calzaghe getting acquainted and a fully focussed, fit Kirk Laing facing Honeyghan.
