I wouldn't say Cooper was ugly.
Pretty much looked like the average British bloke of his era.
To modern eyes most sportsmen from those days seemed to look 40 odd by their mid 20s.

He did have a good left hook tbf, very sharp and didnt really have to throw his whole body into it either. Though too reliant on it and not with a very developed game in other areas. A faint breeze or kiss from albina would also slice him open
