Two year today he beat Gassiev. He’s not done much in 24 months but it will be interesting to see how he handles Chisora if they can get the fight over the line.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - October 2020
Chisora vs Usyk now targeted for October, says David Haye
Derek Chisora's heavyweight collision with Oleksandr Usyk is likely to be rearranged for October, says David Haye.
Chisora was set to welcome Usyk to the upper echelons of the top division in May at The O2 in London but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, and a new date and location are still being finalised.
"The date will probably be in October," Chisora's manager Haye told Sky News. "Fortunately boxing has started to move forward now.
"[Promoter] Eddie Hearn is having fights in his garden - Dillian Whyte is having a huge fight with Alexander Povetkin on August 22 [live on Sky Sports Box Office].
"Derek and Usyk will probably happen in October. Derek and Usyk are training."
Usyk posted social media footage of himself ominously calling Chisora's name while jogging on the beach.
The former undisputed cruiserweight champion from Ukraine has had just one fight in the heavyweight division but is the mandatory challenger to the WBO belt held by Anthony Joshua.
That status will be put at stake by Usyk against Chisora, who had warned: "Basically, everything I'm going to do is for me to take what he has and make it mine.
"He's got the golden ticket, so I want to take his golden ticket."
Usyk replied: "Normally I face this kind of plan, every fight. If you want to hit the target, you need to see the target, because he can throw as much punches as you can, but you need to land them into the target."
Chisora hit back: "He's going to dance around, but we've got certain things we've been practising on and things we've been doing every day. It will pay off."
More recently, Chisora has been in "dialogue" to make his MMA debut with the Bellator promotion, according to its president Scott Coker.
"We'd love to have him," Coker told Sky Sports. "If he has time in his schedule to compete in MMA, we'd love to put him in there and test him out.
"Depending on his schedule, we'd love to get him into our rotation, if time permits."

Usyk will prove himself to ve a class act at heavyweight.
I am going to enjoy watching him progress.
In my view he beats AJ now.

Hope so. Great left hook. But hes had a slow start at heavyweight but he has loads of time on his side. No rush here. Let the top guys smash each other. I think he'll wreck chisora

Chisora has once chance, Usyk has an off night and he lands a huge three punch combo and piles in to finish Usyk off. One punch won’t do it and he cannot possibly outbox him.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - October 2020
Isn't Usyk around 33/34 now? Doesn't leave him loads of time. He has to pick up the pace and make something happen withing the next year.ThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑14 Aug 2020, 18:19Hope so. Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - October 2020
He's already getting on for a guy who has really yet to do anything at hw, the thing at the moment which gives him a break is that the top guys aren't much younger if at all, and a younger generation hasnt really made the leap yet. Chis is older than him, as is Wilder, and Fury and AJ are close. So if he does Chis then goes for a title he isnt really fighting anyone that much younger.
Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - October 2020
Agreed. He is in his prime now, but how much longer will his prime years last? Especially as he seems injury prone.oogiebe wrote: ↑15 Aug 2020, 00:17Isn't Usyk around 33/34 now? Yeah it's been odd how he's been hampered by injuries the last 18 months or so. Age hits us all differently.Verdi wrote: ↑15 Aug 2020, 01:00Agreed. Reminds me of Haye at HW. Seems to be constantly picking up niggly muscle injuries.

Yeah possibly. I meant in the sense to let the top guys demolish each other and he can fight the winner. But either way his heavyweight career and fight choices will be interesting to watchoogiebe wrote: ↑15 Aug 2020, 00:17Isn't Usyk around 33/34 now? Doesn't leave him loads of time. He's got a fairly young man's style also. Fleet footed, great timing, incredible engine and high volume work rate. These things tend to diminish fairly rapidly once you get into your late 30s.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 31 October 2020
Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has revealed that a showdown between Oleksandr Usyk and Derek Chisora is on track to take place on Halloween.
“I had a phone call tonight from Alex Krassyuk [managing director of K2 Promotions-Ukraine], who’s the co-promoter of Oleksandr Usyk saying, ‘Any news? We’re ready to go,’” Hearn told Sky Sports. “They’re the phone calls we’re getting quite a lot at the moment, and the pressure mounts on us to come up with [the fight against Dereck Chisora]. Dereck is training really hard. October 31st is the date we have penciled in for that fight, but it’s dependent on the current deal driving people through the doors and having some kind of gate or moving it internationally and having a site fee.”
“Again, [Usyk vs. Chisora] is a really important fight. When this thing started, I had three main names and that was to deliver Whyte-Povetkin, Usyk-Chisora, and Joshua against Pulev,” said Hearn. “And to make sure the other stable could have the opportunities, keep moving forward and progressing their careers.”

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Derek Chisora - 31 October 2020
Usyk’s team saying they will definitely enforce the WBO mandatory next and that their man has waited around long enough for his shot. Really? I know COVID has happened but Usyk was injured for ages and has fought once at HW against Chazz Witherspoon. It’s hardly like Whyte being de facto number one challenger for eons...
