Light Heavyweights : Gabriel Campillo vs. Alexey Trofimov

Post by Woldemar »

IMO Trofimov by TKO 9.Campillo looked bad against good punchers.

What your picks?

Campillo at his best would win a wide UD

Could see Campillo by UD but close not wide.Trofimov good puncher wih solid amateur background. But IMO Alexey would have a chance stop him .And IMO he was better than Uzelkov who stop Campillo.

Campillo had a weird chin. I saw a number of his fights and sometimes he looked like he could take a good punch, sometimes he looked like he could be knocked over with a feather, so maybe you’re right. He was a victim of one or the worst decisions I can remember seeing (Shumenov II) but he blew every chance after that to get back on top. Probably didn’t help that he was always on the road

Trofimov was good.IMO he number 2 Ukrainian light heavy after Gvozdyk.IMO he was better Sillakh,Uzelkov ,Dudchenko. But he had a problem - weak promoter.

Even when he got dropped twice by Cloud he still clearly deserved the win, was a hard luck fighter. Only time clearly beaten in his prime was by Uzelkov (I think his prep for Kov was really poor and after that went downhill), who was actually probably rather worse than Shumenov, Cloud, Murat, etc

Trof looks pretty good in those videos, though it's hard to grasp a guy like him who just didnt seem to get fights with many meaningful opponents. Campillo had a ton more experience, that would make me more comfortable going with chico guapo

btw, knowing what Italian fights were like, im guessing that Trof prob didnt get any favours from the judges in his md loss

Fight against Aurino was at cruiserweight. Before fight versus Trofimov Italian loss only Johnny Nelson. He had only 3 loses - Nelson,Gomez and Huck. And yes if fight was close judges could gave a victory to local star. But i don't saw this fight.
