I agree, it was a strangely compelling fight, as most of Skelton's are in a visceral sort of way.Terence wrote:It was a rought fight but boxing is not a tickling contest, they both gave and took a bit of stick, Skelton did not work when he held, legally, so he got the stick but it made for an intense scrap IMO.

You people are philistines.
The world’s greatest athletes - and I’m talking ultra-endurance athletes who do swimming, cycling and THEN a marathon or do 40mile runs - ALL use oxygen tents.
Seems Danny gets slagged off when he doesn’t train and slagged off worse when he DOES. Here’s a man who won the British Title with ONE ARM and KO’d Mike Tyson for Britain and you boys are just being brutal on him… give the guy a break!

I wished he had told Warren to smeg off and pushed for Vidoz but now Virchis has the shot.
He could beat Vidoz.

Yeah but whats the point of doing this oxygen tent routine when he struggles to get into shape through the traditional combination of healthy diet and hard training ? I could put a turbo-charger on my car but if the fuel tank is empty and the exhaust is hanging off, it ain't gonna get very far. By Danny's own admission, the diet and commitment to training is rarely what it could be and this oxygen tent angle sounds like a waste of time.
When he climbs into the ring at almost twenty stones, you wonder how heavy he was to start with (prior to entering training camp), and how hard he's trained, especially when he blows heavy after a few rounds.
He was a couple of stones lighter when he beat Potter. In the early days he was quite nimble on his feet, these days he is like an early-90's George Foreman. Its alright to be in that shape when he's facing no-hopers but he took a hideous beating against Vitali Klitscho, when he weighed in at 270lbs. In the build-up to that fight, the biggest of his career, the strategy was to carry so much bulk, it would help Danny to be the boss in there. The strategy couldn't have been more wrong and Danny admitted as much afterwards. He was too heavy, and he was a static target who took a fierce beating.
Maybe I'm wrong and maybe he'll break a compubox punch stat record against Skelton but I suspect he'll be around the 19 stones mark again, knackered after a few rounds, and huff and puff his way to a decision.
