Tough matchup for Bazooka because of the size difference, but would have been a great fight. Arguello was a killer puncher at 126 (and 130) but not particularly fast. My guess is Gomez would either slap Arguello around and survive a wobbly moment or two on the way to a clear UD or Arguello, behind on points, catches him around round 12 and takes him out.

If the greats Salvador Sanchez and Azumah Nelson knocked Bazooka out, then The Explosive Thin Man would do the same. And Alexis hits much harder than the two.

Nelson's right hand wasn't much off of Arguello's, and he was much quicker. Sanchez caught an overconfident Gomez walking in during the 1st round and it was a miracle Bazooka lasted as long as he did in that fight (and the first was still close at the end). Gomez' shock absorbers were probably beaten out of him in the Pintor fight, which remains one of the most brutal fights I've seen. He came back to deliver a boxing lesson to LaPorte at 126 and if I remember correctly he was ahead on the scorecards vs Nelson when he got caught.

Gomez is my favorite boxer and a great man in person (I met him during 2003) and my countryman so hate saying this but he was not at his best weight at featherweight as evidenced by the defeats vs Sanchez and Nelson (my uncle was at the Sanchez bout and I was at the Nelson one so we used to say it was a family tradition for us to show at Gomez losses, lol) and so he'd lose to Arguello, probably KO 12.

Arguello inside the distance. Gomez would be moving up from 122 and at the higher classes he was never as devastating. Arguello wins this fairly easily. The height and reach are strong factors in his favor.
