BIBA are affiliated with IBF WBA and I've herd the WBO are on with them now as well. So if they recognise them then it's pro boxing. You may not like another board in Britain but he ho that's boxing, and other country's have 4 boards, Germany for 1 Australia is the same, and America has a different board for every state. It passes the criteria to be professional boxing. Granted the EBU the BBBofC the Commonwealth boxing council or the WBC don't recognize them, but the other ones do.

Re: Scott Harrison comeback
BIBA licence Scott Harrison, which is tantamount to licensing somebody who shouldn't be licensed, and is also probably their best boxer.
The BBBofC licence Josh Taylor, Anthony Joshua, Callum Smith, Joe Joyce, Joshua Buatsi, Dennis McCann, Ryan Walsh, John Ryder, Daniel Dubois etc etc etc
BIBA are for putting in the bin.

Re: Scott Harrison comeback
It would be interesting to know why he was refused a licence. Was it purely age? He runs ten miles for fun and looks in great nick. I know he wouldnt achieve much beyond area or (maybe) British level, but the absolute state of some of the imports that BBB of C allow to fight on their cards is shocking. I don't see how they can possibly be allowed and then refuse a genuine athlete

Interesting post. If an applicant satisfies all the medical requirements, including the brain scan, can demonstrate he's fairly competent in the ring, and will not bring the game into disrepute, then why not let them have a licence regardless of age.
If Harrison passes this criteria I'd grant him a licence but given his age I'd restrict him to 4x3's against an 'approved' opponent and assess him thereafter. Providing he continues to demonstrate he's capable I'd gradually up him to 6x3's and so on.
I'm pretty confident Harrison and his team would not accept these restrictions however. If he got a licence they'd immediately be looking for a 10 rounder against a well known opponent and some promoter could sell this.
Harrison would lose, regardless of the opponent, get bashed up, and then insist it was only a 'warm up' fight and it would take a few like this to get him back to his peak. You can imagine the scene.

Why should Harrison not be licensed? What's your reasons? His age? His Ability? His conditioning?

Maybe the BBBoC dont have the money for legal fees etc if someone they dont think is worthy has an accident in the ring. Generally everything revolves around money in any walk of life. They maybe dont want another Michael Watson legal episode.dalcumly wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 07:07 It would be interesting to know why he was refused a licence. Was it purely age? I dont think a criminal record should prevent someone from turning their life around, it should be rewarded not discouraged. This reason would just be lame but I could see why they give that reason than others.ShadrachSimmo wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 13:16I’d guess so. His personal struggles have been very public I wonder if that’s anything to do with it. I know it only lasted 3 rounds but he looked not bad for a 42 year old super featherweight. I wonder who the top man is at the weight for BIBA?

Especially when they have paid there due's that's an idiotic comment, you must either be a copper or part of the BBBofC gentleman's club. Pure joke saying that.

Re: Scott Harrison comeback
Inept and defenceless boxers are imported and licenced all the time just to be annihilated by British boxers, but Scott Harrison, who is obviously better than cannon fodder, should not be licenced? I really don't understand.

Re: Scott Harrison comeback
Well from their point of view, how many times was Harrison licensed and went and did something really stupid. Getting imprisoned in Spain was pretty bad for the image of British boxing. I don’t think the board can be particularly confident he wouldn’t go and do something violent and stupid again.
Re: Scott Harrison comeback
In the case of Harrison, a Leopard doesn't change his spots. His history speaks for itself.
We've been here before with him and he let's the board down. No he's not unique, but he'll no doubt falter again and why should the BBBofC get involved with him any more.
He's BIBA's problem now.

Give them credit, they didn't give Rio Ferdinand a licence.
