What do you think about Women's Boxing?

Post by margaret thatcher »

Seriosly bruhs, like pretty much every women's match is a boring predictable, nailed on to go the distance with prob 0 knockdowns or drama fight. Why are they putting more and more of this on us. It was happening even before the covid. It just stains the experience. Cant they keep them off tv

Women's mma is great but this aint it, and also the ladies wear more clothes

am i a sexist pig or something? i just dont know who is enjoying this stuff

I don't know, there's plenty of womens fights I'd watch over some of the lumbering heavyweight fights we've seen between blokes over the years.

That's a terrible question, which portrays you as a misogynist.

No one is forcing you to watch.

The two minute round rule isn't the fault of the competitors. And this is the main culprit preventing stoppages.

My wife and a couple of other women I know enjoy watching females box.

I've enjoyed watching a few female bouts. Not all of them admittedly, but I can't say I've enjoyed watching all the male fights I have ever seen either.

That's a terrible thing to say, which portrays you as a misogynist.

Once again, no one is forcing you to watch.

You're not a victim, so stop complaining.

I don't know if you're sexist, because I don't know if you apply the same misogynistic thoughts about females to other aspects of life.

However, this thread of yours should be deleted. It's inappropriate content.

It’s all the same to me, as long as there’s action and it’s competitive, it keeps my interest. I don’t need to see knockdowns to enjoy the sport.

With that point made, I find it offensive that people are unable to discuss women’s boxing in the current scene. Some time ago it was relegated to a ‘women’s boxing’ seperate area. Shame on you boxrec.

Dont mind it, but i do think that mismatches should be 6 rounds max. 8 is a bit much when someone wins every round and theres no chance of a lucky KO win. id like smaller gloves so that theres risk of KOs but eh i dont hate it.
Id in future id watch a closeish womens 6 rounder than a 100/1 binman try survive a round or 2 against a real pro athlete witch is half the mens fights on under-cards anyway. predicatbility is the enemy weather it be a girl winning a points decision, or a guy getting a round 1 KO against an over matched opponent. if its predicable its boring.

I think it was a nice touch putting this one on the card and up the card a bit, seeing as kim Clavel had supposedly gone back to nursing over corona virus peaks, she can box too.

What's so funny? I happen to know several women that enjoy female boxing. As in, serious fans.

Most of my male friends aren't really into watching boxing at all, because it's a niche sport.

I despise women's boxing; when it comes on I change the channel and that's just what others should do who have no use for it.

But I totally agree they should be allowed to fight if they want to , never said ban their participation lol, im just talking about this rise and proliferation of their time on tv, even if you choose not to watch it, it still means time that can be taken from better fights that could be on

It's because women have generated millions in mma. I can't watch a single round. Last night was the first card I've watched since it came back and as soon as I saw them in the ring, I changed the channel and looked at the clock to count off 30 minutes.

I can't get into Women's Boxing either. Even Claressa Shields who is probably the biggest female boxer going at the minute (Or Braekhus) I barely care or notice when they got something going on.

If that makes me a sexist. I don't care.

I prefer to see some drama, and some damage done when I'm watching a fight. With Women's Boxing you rarely see anything that indicates a fight is taking place.

The girl braekhus is fighting next is pretty hot, so I might watch the ring walks.

Another reason it's being shown more is they come cheap.

not at all, i agree when i say i like katie taylor, i do ,remeber watching her win gold for ireland with the old man whos getting on , a lot a pride there, but when i saw the damge in her the last fight i couldnt watch, i think as men we will always be programed to want to protected women not want to see them bashed ,saying that growing up in london ive seen some wild girl gang fights but even so

If you were talking about women's mma I'd agree, when it comes to womens boxing it's very very very short on those fights. And like I said, the whole simpleton 'turn it over then' comments miss the point, because instead of us turning it over on women's boxing there could be much better fights on instead

did anyone really doubt last night, when kim clavel and that other opponent entered, that it would be a totally uneventful, powerless locked on decision? that is like way too many of the women's boxing matches that get shown. where everything is dragged out to its most tedious

someone suggested giving the women 6 ounce gloves---maybe it's a good idea!!

Ya, the boxing promoters defo seem to be trying to replicate the success in mma, but women's mma is so much more fun to watch (and also higher on the sexual factor for the dudes loving that), boxing just cant compare

:TU:

The only plus is when I set the timer to 30 minutes I knew I didn't have to check before then in case of a knock out.

One positive for women's boxing is that the best boxers pound for pound are going to be fighting each other such as the Taylor vs. Persoon rematch and Braekhus vs. McCaskill. If the minutes per round were 3 minutes instead of 2, I think there would be more interest from the public. The money for female boxers would increase as a result and also because of the greater scheduled duration of the fight and then female athletes would be more inclined to become boxers.
