Lightweights: Azumah Nelson vs Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini
15 rounds. For Mancini's WBA World Lightweight Crown. Who wins?
Re: Lightweights: Azumah Nelson vs Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini
The Professor, UD12 or 15elmersalsa wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 13:09 15 rounds. For Mancini's WBA World Lightweight Crown. Who wins?

Nelson would outbox Boom Boom and get decision.

What a war! Professor UD.

I'm taking Mancini; 135 was not Nelson's best weight. Still, it's a tough bout.

Mancini by UD in a tough fight.

Boom Boom was much stronger than The Professor.
It would be an action-packed fight in a toe to toe warfare with The Professor on the ropes most of the time.
This fight for The Professor would be like the first fight with Jeff Fenech.

I am a big Azumah Nelson fan. I thought he was underrated and underappreciated. I believe that overall he is superior to Ray Mancini. However moving up to lightweight and into Rays division would be a big mistake. Mancini was physically to strong and tough. Nelson in this contest would be defeated and thoroughly beaten up. Ray is just to much for him at 135. This is a bad matchup for the great Nelson.

Agreed. But, who you got for the rematch? Nelson was brilliant in rematches.f read wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 04:52 I am a big Azumah Nelson fan. I thought he was underrated and underappreciated. Mancini in a rematch. It is a question of matchups. Mancini was a buzzsaw and although not a finesse fighter he was strong as a bull. Nelson is not a natural lightweight his best in 126-130 pounds. Styles make fights and i believe style wise this is a bad fight for Nelson.

I Agree. Ask my favorite fighter Bobby Chacon.f read wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 14:19 Mancini in a rematch. It is a question of matchups. Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini was all over him like a buzzaw. He was throwing punches non stop.
I really liked that guy. He was awesome at 135lbs.
