Routine early blow out for Joyce, done as he always does, comes out from the first bell and let's the heavy bombs go, Wallisch tried i suppose but was totally outclassed, down and nearly stopped in the 2nd, more bludgeoned to the canvas than anything
Left hook had him down in the 3rd and the left to the body for the finish was a sickener, you always know Joyce wont fvck about, that's why I like him, slow as they come and not the hardest to hit but had lead in his gloves and I love Heavyweight who target the body

I like Joyce, but he was very open last night, took too many right hands for my liking.
He needs to trim down a little and get sharper, I know last night was a marking time fight, but bit of work to do after that.

He was so easy to catch with the right hand but I still have a feeling that DDD, even though he lands will still be unable to put him over and get worn down himselfOld bones Ian wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 03:53 I like Joyce, but he was very open last night, took too many right hands for my liking.

Have you followed Joyce's career at all? He's had elite wins in the ams over guys like Yoka, Hrgovic and Dychko and his pro career is leagues above that of Dubois.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 19:20 Anything other than Dubois KO1 would surprise me. Joyce is poor beyond words
I think you're in for a surprise as there's no chance Dubois KOs Joyce in the first.

I agree it’s not the most likely outcome but to say there’s ‘no chance’ of it is a fool’s errand.Verdi wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 04:02Have you followed Joyce's career at all? Happy to change that to 'almost no chance'.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 05:26I agree it’s not the most likely outcome but to say there’s ‘no chance’ of it is a fool’s errand.Verdi wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 04:02Have you followed Joyce's career at all? It’s almost certain that JJ will come out more focused and cautious than he did last night. But he’s still open and lumbering and it’s entirely plausible that he can be caught cold by the sharp, heavy punches of DD.Verdi wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 05:36Happy to change that to 'almost no chance'.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 05:26I agree it’s not the most likely outcome but to say there’s ‘no chance’ of it is a fool’s errand.
To put this in context for those folks who think this is a pickem. The books have DD as a 1/4 favourite, which doesn’t suggest pickem to them.

It'll be a great fight, but I've never seen a promo and found myself getting less excited, EVER.ThereByTheGrace wrote: ↑25 Jul 2020, 19:53See thats just stupid. Boxers in my opinion are judged on their ability in the ring. Not their ability to talk shite.
Go and watch wrestling or politics if that interests you.
It's their earning power that's at stake - the morticians need help.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Michael Wallisch - 25 July 2020
DDD wont be worried by that kind of performance .
If JJ comes on like that Dubois will pole axe him like he has done so many times ...

IF The Juggernaut fights like he did last night there is surely a very good chance that it's DDD by KO1, but it's a very different fight and he had zero respect for the German.
The Tyson that fought PIaneta woulda got KO1 by The Bronze Bomber - Wallisch was a tune-up.

DDD and Joyce will Probably both be cautious in the first round, chances are it might even be a feel round.skanksta wrote: ↑26 Jul 2020, 10:42 IF The Juggernaut fights like he did last night there is surely a very good chance that it's DDD by KO1, but it's a very different fight and he had zero respect for the German.

This fight did nothing to change my mind about Slow-Joe. He took too many overhand rights early and would get peppered by any decent boxer. Dubs will annihilate him.

Jesus,I thought I'd pressed slow motion by mistake,Don't think I've ever seen someone as slow as that before in a boxing ring.

Thought my screen was buffering at one point. He'd be a world champ at underwater boxing, but having said that i like the guy. Fair play to the pair of 'em for duking it out. looking forward to it.

Nobody had been slower than the post retired George Foreman, was getting schooled by Moorer but sucked it up then iced him, Joyce must be doing something right

Well tbf, there must definitely be things good about Joe Joe for him to win Olympic silver (arguably shoulda been gold), do excellent in WSB (lots of good pros and ams fought in wsb, but very few matched his success), and then okay as a pro so far (he at least beat Jennings who is decent, didnt get dropped on his ass like eFe by kiladze either)
He looks so bad but obviously isnt that bad. So we are probably underestimating him, because he wouldnt have done nearly as well as he has if he were truly as bad as gets said. Let's face it, tons of guys are faster than joe but only a tiny proportion of those do better. There have been other ugly on the eye fighters to achieve good success as well. Tony Thompson was glacial and a punch pusher as well, to give a recent name.
Good things about Joe: well, he is naturally a huge guy for one, 6'6 with definition in the non blown up 260s, that's a lot of genuine size, and it shows as good physical strength, though doesnt translate as well to punch power because he slaps with his shots. He has a nice diversity of punches, really one of the few hws to target the body and throw a full kit of shots. He was known in wsb and ams for top hw stamina, and looked fine over 12 vs Jenn. His accuracy is actually surprisngly good too for his lack of speed.
But still, feel this is well made for a Dub win, and I get the sense that Fwank is close enough to both to know that, and make it to propel Dub as the guy who has the greater star potential

I enjoyed the fight and really like following Joyce's career. The guy really wants to fight and gets down to business. That's more than enough for me.
Joyce was far too good, but at least Wallisch come to give it a go. He didn't just roll over at the first sign of a punch being thrown, Joe dished it out with some clubbing head shots and good body shots.
Despite the obvious lack of speed and finesse, Joyce does places his punches well and even if he didn't the sheer volume of punches thrown continues to swamp the opposition.
I still take Joyce to stop Dubois, but you'd be blind not to worry about DDD landing the right hand. That said, everytime Joyce gets nailed he just blinks and keeps throwing punches.

Love it.. So accurate..
It's like when the bell rings, his brain is just programmed to go out and throw punches non-stop.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Michael Wallisch - 25 July 2020
Yep, and whilst we have some boxers who overthink the situation or look for perfection and miss opportunities to land, the juggernaut just gets in there and churns the punches out. They're not tip taps either, Joyce may be heavy footed, but this also generates weight behind those punches.
I cannot think of a heavyweight who throws more effective punches than Joyce per fight. Joe has absolutely no fear of his stamina running out.

Joe prioritizes volume over the quality of any particular shot. I like how he goes to the body and has a full repetoire of punches, but they aren't individually what I would call particularly high quality shots compared to what higher level guys have, it's the accumulation of them
Fury's jab is better than any single shot of Joe's
Wilder's right
AJ' a lot of different shots
Pov and Whyte and Ruiz left hook
Pulev jab
Etc
It's a fair point on volume though, Joe puts the shots together to the body and head

The small ring was perfect for him. I wonder what the size will be v Dubois.

A fight I'd love to see that would give the punters great value is Joyce v Kownacki
