Press Release | Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs. Amnat Ruenroeng To Be Streamed By Matchroom

Matchroom Boxing will live stream Srisaket Sor Rungvisai’s ring return against Amnat Ruenroeng on Saturday August 1st.

Ahead of our Fight Camp opener, the ten round contest from Thailand will go out across Matchroom’s YouTube channel.

Fans around the world (excluding in Thailand, Caribbean and Latin America) will be able to watch from approx 9.45am (BST) on fight day.

Rungvisai boasts two impressive victories over Roman Gonzalez in recent years, plus two close fights against Juan Francisco Estrada which went one apiece.

Ruenroeng, a former IBF World Champion, looks to make it three wins on the bounce and put his name firmly back into title contention.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "As if August 1st couldn't get any bigger with the launch of Matchroom Fight Camp, the return of former WBC Super-Flyweight World Champion Rungvisai against former IBF 112lbs ruler Ruenroeng will now be shown live on the Matchroom YouTube channel.

"It's a great little warm-up at 8.45 in the morning for what will be a very exciting day for the world of boxing. Next Saturday is all about the return of boxing. Fight fans will get a chance to watch a pound-for-pound star in Rungvisai before enjoying the opening night of Fight Camp.

"Juan Francisco Estrada will fight 'Chocolatito' next, we're in the process of trying to make that fight, probably for October time in America. The winner of that fight will face Sor Rungvisai providing he gets through on the 1st. It's a great little run of fights for those three and the division itself. We're so lucky to represent those three great fighters."

Quality match up this, neither guy hard to hit, Eggington has the pedigree but he's had a long career, been in dozens of wars and is starting to get stopped, he looked awful against Smith and the Mwakinyo stoppage was sheer stupidity, up at Super Welter now as well against Cheeseman who can dig and usually loves a scrap

I think Cheeseman holds the edge here, naturally bigger guy, more in the tank, not had a win in 3 though, I thought he pipped Fitzgerald but it was close, he has shown he can box a bit when he wants to, cant remember Eggington doing that, I'm thinking Cheeseman will stop him, think he'll try to box Eggington early doors but at some point he'll unload, Eggington will oblige and i reckon in a shoot out Cheeseman comes out on top and stops him

On a serious note Cheese should have enough in his locker to win this. He can box when he chooses too and seems to be learning from his mistakes (which is a sign of a good fighter).

Egg has had a very good career, but being EBU welterweight champ was his peak (I think) and he will be no more than a solid British/Euro level gatekeeper at light middleweight.

Tbf, Egg has pretty much always bounced back with some decent results after losing , it was really only between losing to Mwikano and then getting the Smith fight where he didnt

Of course you gotta get those bounce back opportunities in the first place, and that's where his backing comes in, but he's also done some good fighting to set things back in order. he legit won the british and euro titles so he's no bum either , a lot of guys couldnt touch those no matter what relationship they had with the hearns

i dont really mind how things have been done with him, most the fights we've seen him in have made sense and he hasnt been forced upon us. i mean someone like shannon courtney gets repeated air time just for having trained at the same gym as AJ lol

He is limited, I would never claim overwise, but he has some solid domestic/Euro level wins on his ledger.

British and European welterweight champ is nothing to be sniffed at and a fair bit more than most (including the man himself) expected of him.

Rungvisai v Ruenroeng was better than I expected, Ruenroeng started the fight strongly and was making Rungvisai miss quite regularly as well as firing some neat counters. As the fight went beyond the midway stage Rungvisai started to put together combinations more effectively as Ruenroeng tired, however he never really looked like putting him away which will have surprised a few (albeit the fight was taking place above his usual super flyweight limit). Ruenroeng showed he still had a bit left in the tank, even at 40. Decent fight.

Hope the old cheeseman turns up. I think he can box to a win but if he comes in slugging this could be such a good scrap. Never can gauge eggington right me. His limitations are there for all to see and sometimes he fights thick as fornicate, but his career has been peppered with surprising performances. It will be interesting to see how Adam Smith has pre scripted his first 4 rounds of commentary.

Against Liam Smith it was already decided that Egg was too small, too far gone, etc. He spent the whole fight worrying about SAMs health and wondering when they would pull him out almost before the fight had started.
