Hah you are probably not a big fan of Lomachenko. You wrote at least 5 times how Teo will beat him :)margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 12:56 Teo should take it and then beat down Loma, and then get paid more in the future

I've gotta compensate for the fanaticism my man
Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez - October 3, 2020
Ive didnt noticed much of a Lomachenko fanatism here, but i can understand you :) ...remembering back in 2009 every casual boxing fan was fanatic to Manny Pacquiao, it was annoying, and it was reason i was rooting against him. Ironically, when hype faded after some loses, ive became his fan. Anyway, i am fan of Lomachenko since 2008 olympics so i am going to cheer for him in this one. IMO Teo is in win/win situation. If he win, he will pe P4P top fighter, if he loses, it can be valuable loss something like Canelo loss to Mayweather. Speaking of fanatism, massive Canelo hate on this site is something to be mentioned

That’s how it works.. you can’t expect to walk into a big money fight.. Loma is the bigger draw.. clearly, the A side.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Jul 2020, 12:56 Teo should take it and then beat down Loma, and then get paid more in the future
It’s like Whyte not taking change against AJ, take the money offered, still career high and prove you are better. Win. Then in a rematch or future fights, you will maintain a high purse.

1.25m seems low. This could very well be Teofimos only chance to make some money. Is he just supposed to take the fight and then deal with a hostile referee and judges and lose and get forgotten with the proceeds from that 1.25?
Fact is there arent very many interesting fights in boxing today and Teo gets to be part of one of the few.
Example:
Fury vs Joshua isnt interesting, essentially its a mismatch/easy fight for Fury.
Crawford vs Spence is only semi interesting, everyone and their moms know that Spence is a fraud.

To be fair to teo, he is kinda the last piece in the loma undisputed puzzle so should have good leaverage there... but also to be fair, is he? WBC franchise situation is a joke, haney sure isnt the champ in my eyes, never heard of who he beat. loma beat Campbell... but i dunno how the rest of the public see it.
if loma beat teo today, i would consider him undisputed champ, but thats just me. If thats not the publics view then this isnt an undisputed fight and 1.2 is probably fair.
Teo needs to milk 135 asap though cause i think he will start struggling to make that weight in a year or 2. so he should be hunting all the names, loma, garcia, tank, haney... then move on up.

Fight will probably not happen in Oct.. ESPN isn't willing to fork out the money to pay the fighters what they want. We shall wait

Re: Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez - October 3, 2020
According to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who promotes both boxers, Lopez is being offered more than double of his highest purse to date.
The problem facing that contest are the various restrictions connected to the pandemic - specifically the inability to have fans in the venue, which in turn removes any live gate revenue.
Arum says Lomachenko has already lowered his financial demands to make the fight a reality, but Lopez is standing firm on getting a bigger purse out of the deal.
The veteran is very firm on his position of not taking a financial loss on the proposed match.
“The contract we offered them is already more than double his highest purse and they starting talking all this crazy stuff,” Arum said to Yahoo Sports. “They were talking numbers based on a $3 million live gate and close circuit. It’s crazy! They’re saying, why should they be affected by the coronavirus?
“Loma has a contract and he’s already given us relief. He’s fighting for less than his contract says because he gets it. I’m not in the business to lose money. If they turn down a record contract for him, nothing I can do. On to the next.”

As much as I want this fight.. I’m siding with Arum here..
Loma has agreed to take less than his contract says.. I believe his contract says $3m guaranteed per fight..
Even in a pandemic, Teo has been offered more than double his highest purse.. but they’re talking about gate revenue and close circuit etc.
Unfortunately for fans, boxing IS a business first then a sport.. Arum has probably already lost money on his previous shows no doubt.. this is his first real big fight of the year, he’s gonna wanna recoup some of that money too.
Boxers now days think they’re worth more than they are.. does he not believe he can beat Loma? Take you’re highest purse, and you’ll know your worth when the PPV buys come in..

If he’s being offered more than double His highest purse.. I’m gonna take a wild guess and say he’s been offered between $1.5m to $2m..
That’s just a complete guess..
I’m going off his Commey fight. Commey was champion and had a purse of $750k..
Teo’s purse was never revealed..

What has Bob Arum actually offered? If we don't know, then we can't really judge.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Aug 2020, 20:20Arum said also, with what Teo is asking for as well. Way more than he’s worth.
Loma has earned his high paychecks.. Teo has not..
Being offered a career-high purse is meaningless for any fighter that has only just captured their first world title and is also making their first defence.
Richard Commey earned $750K to face Lopez, but Teofimo's purse wasn't disclosed.
Lomachenko earned $1.2m for the Crolla fight. I've ignored his payday for his win over Luke Campbell, because I'm guessing the Ukraine would have been paid an anomalous purse to travel overseas to headline a Matchroom card.
In my mind, Teofimo Lopez's commercial worth is far higher today, due to him being a world champion than when he was only a contender.
The American is also engaging in a title unification bout against arguably one of the top-two pound-for-pounders in the sport, with Lomachenko typically receiving seven-figure paydays per fight.
And let's not forget that Teofimo Lopez is rated by The RING, ESPN and TBRB as the second-best lightweight on the planet, immediately behind Lomachenko. It's unusual for the two best fighters of any division to face each other and that surely must come at a premium price?

He’ll be worth more if he fights and beats Loma. He should take this opportunity. Tell him.

What I think..
Canelo was in this position..
Mayweather made what over $50m against him whilst Canelo took around $7m.. even that he LOST, he became that draw and now is on the money..
CAnelo was a champion.. RING champion ranked highly by the Ring/TBRB/ESPN whoever.. but he still took 5-6 time’s less than Mayweather did..
Not comparing Loma to Mayweather btw.
