Totally agree with all this strap stuff. It's just an absolute bullshit with them nowadays. The thing is, Whyte and Povetkin are the best contenders today in terms of a resume. The winner will deserve a shot. However, no one will want to see anyone of them against Fury before Fury-Joshua.

I try to ignore all of the interim/regular/diamond bollocks and focus on the full title holders only (probably too many of those as well) however even that is getting more difficult with the 'franchise' nonsense now. Trying to explain the number of titles to a more casual fan is next to impossible nowadays.

This has potential to be a war I suppose but i reckon it'll be a cagey affair with the odd bit of excitement thrown in, fancy Whyte to win on points comfortably, he'll be in much better shape than he was against Wach surely especially as he's been out in Portugal during UKADs holiday, Povetkin still has plenty left to give him problems, he was doing great against Joshua before getting starched and easily beat Hughie, I like Hunter so the draws another good result

I just think Whyte boxes him with minimum fuss, just takes one to land that big left hook though then a fight will break out

Sky doing their best to push it as a 50/50 but Povetkin is past it. 1 win in 2 years, got a lucky draw against Hunter and given a count against David Price. Don’t really rate Whyte but should be a comfortable points victory if he’s in good condition.

Hearn on Whyte-Povetkin: The Most Important Heavyweight Fight in 2020

At their recent convention, the WBC sweetened the pot for Whyte-Povetkin - by sanctioning the fight for their "Diamond title."

"[The WBC Diamond title] is on the line for the first time. It’s still for the interim world heavyweight title, but also the Diamond belt. It’s the most important heavyweight fight this year by a mile. Alexander Povetkin can bowl in and become WBC mandatory just by winning this fight. Dillian Whyte has waited 1000 days. The winner of Fury against Wilder has to fight Dillian Whyte or Povetkin or vacate the belt," Hearn told IFL TV.

"If they [Fury and Wilder] fight in December, we’ve always known that February is unlikely. We want to do that because I want to do the undisputed. By the way, if Tyson Fury doesn’t want to fight Dillian Whyte, I’ve already talked to AJ. AJ wants the WBC world title. He wants to be the WBC world champion. So whoever has the WBC world title, they’ll be fighting AJ.

So Fury will vacate his WBC belt to fight AJ, but AJ will only fight Fury if it's for all the belts.. Whyte won't need to fight anyone to win the WBC belt if Fury vacates, because Whyte is the Interim champion, thus making his full champion is there is a vacation.

Contradicts himself a lot lately. He can't keep up with what he says. Said he needed Taylor to fight Serrano for the card to be PPV worthy - she isn't (and they've also lost Kuzmin v Bakole) but it's still PPV.

Alen Babic vs Shawndell Winters added to undercard

Croatian heavyweight Alen Babic will return to action on Saturday, Aug. 22, as part of the Whyte-Povetkin undercard on DAZN and Sky Box Office.

The 29-year-old Babic (3-0, 3 KO) will face American Shawndell Winters (13-3, 12 KO). The 39-year-old Winters is coming off of a fifth round TKO loss to ex-titleholder Joseph Parker on Feb. 29 in Miami, but also upset Oleksandr Teslenko in Sept. 2019 via fifth round TKO. He’s a scrappy heavyweight who comes to fight and also has losses to Brian Howard in 2017 and Nikodem Jezewski in April 2019. He’s not been afraid to travel, losing to Jezewski in Poland and beating Teslenko in Canada, plus another trip to Poland in Nov. 2019 for a win over Sergiej Werwejko.

Babic turned pro in July 2019 and is hoping to break out soon, with wins so far in Italy (twice) and the United Kingdom. Winters will be a clear step up for him, but if Matchroom is giving him this sort of stage there’s at least some hope that he might turn out to be worthwhile. Babic has been working with card headliner Dillian Whyte in training camp.

If they want people to buy/watch the fight, they could have lowered it down to £16.95..

I'm sure the revenue would be the same..

Example..

200k buys at £19.95 = £3,990,000

If a reduced price of £16.95 helped them gain a further 100k buys.. then

300k buys at £16.95 = £5,085,000

I honestly don’t think dropping the price by 3 quid would result in anywhere near an additional 100k buys. I reckon they’d have to knock a tenner off to get that much of an increase.

Most are competitive matches on paper , I will give it that. I'm more interested in this main than Wilder and Ortiz fighting twice and wasnt that like 70 or something. those yank prices lol. a ppv eager game these days. The typical card is a lot worse, but agree it's not one that really seems to have 'earned' ppv if we go by the fight quality and stature
