Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
Who thought Rolly won this fight? I guess when Mayweather is paying the bills, his fighter gets the nod. This is BS.

Ya thought he looked very limited tonight, Marinez did the nicer boxing and the judges were defo generous to Rolly

Decision was trash. Romero deserved a draw at best. 118-110 was ludicrous.

No way was he even close to a draw though. I don't use it often, but this was a robbery.jujigatame wrote: ↑15 Aug 2020, 23:10 Decision was trash. Romero deserved a draw at best. 118-110 was ludicrous.

I was never that impressed with Rolly, the kid is just weird too. He's clearly not ready to fight the elites of the division. You would think he'd be more polished considering his background and the fact he's already sparred most of the top guys in his division.
The kid already sounds punch drunk as well. I don't expect much from him to be honest.

Spence is 100% correct on that one, not that anything will change anytime soon.
There are 5 beltholders at 135 now. Loma is the only one that matters.

It was a hard fight to score but decision was BS.
Seems like judges too often reward whichever guy is chasing -- even when he never catches up.

Re: Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
That's what I've been saying for years.
Also I'm not sure Romero was "exposed" exactly considering I had never heard of him prior to this fight in the first place.
He was definitely shown to be limited.
Re: Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
He looked terrible. Madrimov did too.

Re: Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
Rolo was like -700 in places and getting pretty much all the picks, to win convincgly. He was kinda exposed in that he was no where near as good as thought by the people who had him on their radar. I mean Marinez brought in a solid am background with international experience and stuff, and not like Romero had done a lot more if more at all than him as a pro, but for some reason he was seen as not up there at the same level. For whatever reason people were hotter on Rolo than warranted
Even if you just ignore the scoring, he just looked mediocre and limited and clumsy in general, and not any of the power he was supposed to have showed at that level. Some guys, like Madrimov, look limited but you can still see the raw explosivness and power, but he didnt really show that
Madi was more of a mixed bag to me.. I will give him credit for at least showing a good 12 round engine though and ending strong,. Plus he won clearly and shoulda had a KO win before a decision anyway--he actually did show the KO power when he connected. Still gonna get outboxed or timed and KTFO with all that loading up, leaping in, and KO hunting he does though. Dude needs some subtlety added in.

BTW , for all the talk focused on the decision, I gotta give props to my boi Marinez, he was a fast skilled boxer with nice fluid moves. I thought he deserved at least 8 rounds.
Can't punch or do much inside work, but still a handy boxer who i'd like to see again

Re: Rolly Romero was exposed tonight.
The heartbreaking thing about decisions like this is that Marinez was a relatively anonymous fighter who came in as the B-side, fought his ass off, and deserved a win, and will now likely return to obscurity. Who knows if we'll ever see him on TV again.
