Roy had a s-hit jab, it always fell short, like he was throwing it with fear. He had s-hit head movement too, crooking his neck and even closing his eyes

Roy threw the jab to draw stuff that he could counter, not really to score with it

It never landed, it was shocking. McCallum really put a jab schooling on him winning the first four rounds at 40 with a gut

It was laughable wasn't it. Griffin really exposed him with feints, as did Del Valle with the knockdown (feint a jab, cause Roy to turn his head away in a panic, then floor him heavily with a cross - Roy however knew how to survive the rest of that round on shaky legs)

I know exactly what I'm watching. He threw treble-quadruple jabs that didn't land (hardly a measuring stick thrown like that), and didn't slip a jab past one side of his head while keeping eyes on target (Eubank Sr was a master at remaining poker-face under fire for instance).

Proof is in the pudding - since his reflexes slowed, he was knocked out for 15 years.

Occasionally. As a standalone jab, he couldn't land it - he looked scared of counter rights and petrified when lead rights were thrown at him.

However his speed and reflexes (and born power) from 1989 to 1999 were so far advanced against shot, green or out of shape fighters that he was able to keep winning mostly in style.

No, you are wrong. He threw those throwaway flicker jabs in order to prompt the opponent to throw the right hand over it, so he could then counter with the left hook over the right hand.

I haven't heard him lately, but let's face it, boxing is awful for you brain and with getting sparked or beaten up as many times as Roy ended up getting, his brain is probably gonna be f@cked up a bit in some way and the older he gets the more likely it is to show

The guys like Chuvalo who take loads of shots or get KTFO a bunch but are still sharp and well-spoken long after their careers are the lucky ones., they maybe just won the genetic lottery

Imagine Toney, Curry, Bowe, Norris, Holy, etc in a focus group with each other lol. I always remember watching Bob Foster doing some studio work he was totally incomprehensible too. And also very moody and seemingly pissed off at everything, I wondered if he already had some sort of dementia at that time

Foreman and Holmes are the most extreme examples. They boxed longer than anyone and yet when you hear them speak there's no evidence either one ever took punches. I would love to know the science behind it because you would think the brain getting jolted for so long must result in damage.

Like a lot of things regarding health, life and nature there is an element of luck when it comes to physical predispositions.
