How much should you bend your knees while in a boxing stance?

Post by Vapidyungtkilla »

Obviously it’s important to bend your knees while boxing, but how much is optimal? Should they be bent to the point where I feel like I’m sitting in my stance? (Similar time a half squat?) or should they just be flexed and my body kept straight up and neutral?

Honestly it really depends on the person and their style, I wouldn't say any particular way is inherently best. If you aren't sure, try some different ways out in sparring. If you don't spar, go with what feels most comfortable to you.

So much so that you are comfortable and your muscles do not experience tension

Usually, there is no limit to how much one should bend. As much it stresses your calf muscle to make you standby the opponent. Scientifically speaking, not more than 75 degrees.

good rule-- never bend so much that your knees go past your toes (ir, your knees and toes should be in the same imaginary vertical line)
