Round-by-Round: Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin - 22 August 2020
Re: Round-by-Round: Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin - 22 August 2020
Chelli at a canter. Cullen barely did anything after the third. Poor quality contest, lots of shots missed, but Chelli had the better skills and far more effective. Our refs are piss poor judges.

What amateur gym did Chelli go? He seems like a great talent but I have to question the corner work. He was winging shots really bad whenever he’d get up close, missed his chances
It’s easy to criticise but if I was in his corner and his mouth guard fell out and he just stood there looking down at it I’d have screamed the place down.

Chelli can feel hardly done by. Not a robbery though.

Yeah and I think that applies to Cullen's corner in that fight.Delta Jay wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 15:17 What amateur gym did Chelli go? He seems like a great talent but I have to question the corner work. He was winging shots really bad whenever he’d get up close, missed his chances

A good pep talk with some simple tactics coulda won it for either.

Babic is fun, but highlights the need for a division between cruiser and heavyweight. Bruiserweight, perhaps?
How did Winters compete at heavyweight against Joseph Parker? Bum matchmaking.

Shawndell Winters looked like a deer in the headlights there. Almost uncomfortable to watch.

Babic fun to watch. Look forward to him on more undercards

I like Bruiserweight !
But please no more weight divisions - I'd like to streamline them. But LHW could easily be 185-190 and CW 205

Babic minced his kipper

This is very true! Cullen too reliant on a long jab, Chelli too reliant on being stronger. It’s not always black and white. Thought Chelli was constantly trying to slipjab under the Cullen jab and it became predictable and he was getting picked off with a slightly lowered jab, but I am not a pro boxer or coach so you always feel daft coming out with these criticisms.skanksta wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 15:26Yeah and I think that applies to Cullen's corner in that fight.Delta Jay wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 15:17 What amateur gym did Chelli go? Has Dillian Whyte been coaching him on how to do an interview as well

Gotta see Babic against someone decent.
Re: Round-by-Round: Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin - 22 August 2020
Surely he make can make Cruiser.
And he must fight Kudrayashov

I missed the Babic fight.
Considering Mark Bennett was offered the fight and was fully fit how would he have compared to Winters in this fight.

He's 5lb over cruiserweight and carries a bit of flab. He should be a cruiserweight, but I suppose the money is crap.

Both of these guys could fight at cruiserweight easily if they wanted. They choose not to because of the money available at heavyweight. If they introduced another weight category I don’t think it would change a thing - the fighters will still want the bigger fights at heavyweight.

Yep, good point. Money invariably talks.maverick23 wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 15:37Both of these guys could fight at cruiserweight easily if they wanted. Just having this chat with my pal. If you were on the top of the hill and could roll down either side why would you choose to go the side with less dough?Lightsoot wrote: ↑22 Aug 2020, 15:38Yep, good point. Usyk and Haye were both always gonna win world titles, wanted all the glory and were always ripped at cruiser. Then when they moved up they were about 215/220 which Wilder has almost always been. I think most 6’3 225lbs heavies could make cruiser
