Solid fight for sure. Smith had the lead for most of it, ahead of things with a much higher workrate and steady aggresion (his stamina is impressive) from the first bell. Alvarez had a worried/nervous look on his face throughout and was tentative, though did show flashes of his greater hand speed and had some good moments, like buzzing Joe in the 7th and scoring some good shots at other points. Smith was just so tenacious though and even when he got rocked in round 7 he went straight back at Alvarez and was beating on him by the end of the round

I had Smith up 78-74 , one thing that surprised me is that Alvarez did not really land at much higher percent than Smith did. Smith was not the open easy as pie to hit guy that I think a lot of people see him as. Add in a good chin, a lot of stamina, and strength and seemingly a good mental game, and he's a tough one for pretty much any lhw in the world

Agree, I 've done it too, dude has absolutely come on though and is 100 percent legit, he will beat the Salamov-Vlasov winner and grab a belt (if the wbo is still doing that tournament)
