Shortest and tallest ever fighters for their division

Post by margaret thatcher »

Who are some dudes who were really tall or short for their divisions?

Inspired by watching 6'6 pile of bones Seb Fundora win a fight at 154 pounds the other day. He wasnt bad tbf and dominated inside as much as he did outside

Celestino Caballero was 5' 11" and fought at bantum 120lbs

Diego Corrales was 5' 10" and fought at 130lb, he always seemed to tower over everyone he fought.

Ryoichi Taguchi springs to mind, a 5'6" Light Flyweight, but he actually faced a taller guy, Yuki Chinen, who was 5'7.5" at 108 can't imagine many beat him for the weight

Callum Smith is the tallest SMW champ I can remember but he’s only 6’3.

Nikolai Valuev is an obvious one.

Jamie McDonnel at Bantam?

Genaro Hernandez at SFW was about 5’11

Dwight Muhammad Qawi was a very short heavy

Tommy O (cant spell his last name) South African won an IBO at Super Middleweight and pretty sure he is taller than Callum Smith.

Couple of obvious ones who both titles in their division.

Paul William's at 6 foot 1 at 147 pounds.
Nontino Donaire at 5 foot 7 at 112 pounds.

Plus that crazy Georgian; Khurtzide won a title (could have been interim) at middleweight. He was seriously short for the weight at about 5 foot 5.

The little middleweight Mike Tyson who came over and did Langford. He was pretty small for the weight. He's doing time for being in the russian mafia I heard? The guy was small but he was one of the most intimidating looking blokes I've ever seen. I would have liked to have seen him brought over to fight Eubank.

Good call. He was only in the 160s when he defended his HW title vs Jack Johnson, yet even for a smw he'd be a shorty

Arguello 5'10", held a world title down at super feather and feather. Did box at lower weights prior to that.

I think MAB turned pro down at super fly, not the tallest super bantam/feather etc but must have looked rake thin down at those weights.

Hayes danced a great fight (or should I say breakdance) but Jimmy Paul got on with the job of destroying him.

I once saw a 6 feet 7 light-middleweight in a under 20 bout amateur novice championship.

He lost and his name escapes me.
