Considering I've been a boxing fan since 1976, I've rarely paid for the pleasure of seeing fights. I'm a TV baby (and now YouTube). What can I say?

I think I purchased one PPV card in the early 2000's and I don't even remember who fought. When I was a kid the big fights shown on closed-circuit were always too expensive. I did manage to see Hagler-Duran in the local auditorium.

So I've only been to two pro fight cards, and both were spur-of-the-moment decisions to go:

Pernell Whitaker - Jose Luis Ramirez II in Norfolk, VA.
Sam Peter - Jameel McCline at Madison Square Garden.

It was mate although was supposed to be going to kick off between supporters. If Lee hadn’t got the nod I think it would have. I’m sure there was over 200 police present. The fight itself was fantastic.

You should have lived in Puerto Rico then. Closed-circuit was unheard of. We saw every fight, and I mean EVERY FIGHT, including this one, free and live as it was happening, on TV with commercials mixed in.

I watched it on BBC Scotland was a great fight, can’t believe it wasn’t advertised more, Glasgow v Edinburgh, British v Commonwealth and both unbeaten, was 100 times better than most of the rubbish you have to pay for

They both gave it all they had. Who did you have winning? We had ringside for it, for two lighter guys they don’t half bang!

I had Kash winning that fight, but McGregor came on a lot in the second half and you can defo make his case. If they rematch McG should start more aggressively.

I thought Kash sneaked it but knew there wasn’t a lot in it and was hard to score, they were both determined to get the win right to the last bell which made for great viewing

I was only 10 so it was memorable for me. Hilton dropped Drayton with a vicious hook in the first round. After that, it was a grueling 15 rounds of packed action. Hilton worked the body like crazy. That level of activity and intensity throughout is rarely seen nowadays, even if the fights are shorter now. I rewatched that fight a few times as I DL'd it from the boxing torrent site and it was a great watch everytime.
