Clarify me bruhs on the hws
Just have some questions....ruthy and eo can prob help
1. Is pov mando for wbc now, or is that just an empty spot (ya, I know there is Whyte rematch btw) (resolved...he aint yet)
2. does fury have rematch clause for wilder 3rd fight
3. what is happening with aj-pulev?
4. fury and aj are said to have a verbal agreement for 2 fights, is that binding at all

I just seen that the answer to #1 is no, or at least not yet, wbc said they will meet to discuss it

Povetkin won’t receive his title shot until he beats Whyte in their immediate rematch.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Aug 2020, 12:20 Just have some questions....ruthy and eo can prob help

It doesn’t matter what the WBC or Povetkin wants, the immediate rematch clause cannot be wavered without prior agreement from whyte, which isn’t going to happen.
It’s unclear whether Fury has an immediate rematch clause if he loses to Wilder, but many media sources and fellow forum members believe he has.
AJ-Pulev is happening in December.
The terms for the Joshua-Fury bout have been agreed, but Eddie Hearn and Bob Arum doesn‘t think their first bout will happen until the Summer anyway. The dates weren’t agreed due to both fighters having mandatories to perform, coupled with Fury obliged to faced Wilder for a third time.
I doubt the agreement between Fury and Joshua is legally binding.

The summer? Where? Lol
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
Wow the WBC actually gets away with ordering rematches of Eliminators now?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑25 Aug 2020, 14:04Povetkin won’t receive his title shot until he beats Whyte in their immediate rematch.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Aug 2020, 12:20 Just have some questions....ruthy and eo can prob help

Such weird rules that change with the whims of who's on top.

Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
The WBC wouldn't have ordered it, it would've been put into the initial contract
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
It's weird whatever the case.
Rematch clauses for fights between contenders now?
I mean, it's all good. It was a good fight, and I'm sure will be a good rematch. It's just odd circumstances that's all.

It was an iterim title, so maybe that's it
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws

I probably heard, and just didn't care because I don't give any reverence to these meaningless titles.

You’re a forum moderator.
Are you not interested in the truth.
The WBC aren’t involved in immediate rematch clauses.
It’s the fighters themselves that force them to be included in fight contracts.
This is basic stuff. None of it should be new to you.
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
Just thought it was weird that a rematch clause was in effect for a fight between contenders.
I didn't look into the reason why because I frankly don't care.
It's a good fight though, and I'm sure will be a good rematch like I said.

Just hearn pretending he is looking after whyte. More fights we watch have rematch clauses than don't. Almost every nonmandatory title fight.
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
Per this week's episode of the The Last Round Podcast. . . Povetkin will not be mandatory. Which makes almost as much sense as the mandatory rematch for the triple-double-platinum-gem belt or whatever interim title was on the line. Which is zero.

Sulaiman has already stated that Povetkin is the WBC’s mandatory challenger, but he hasn’t imposed a timescale for Fury to face him.ryandmosley wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:27 Per this week's episode of the The Last Round Podcast. . . Anyway, Povetkin is contractually obliged to face Whyte again.
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
I thought I read somewhere that WBC has winner of Fury/Wilder up to a year from the time of the fight to face the winner of the Pov/Whyte rematch.
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
You're the "mandatory" challenger... but you have to win the rematch. There's nothing mandatory about that.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:33Sulaiman has already stated that Povetkin is the WBC’s mandatory challenger, but he hasn’t imposed a timescale for Fury to face him.ryandmosley wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:27 Per this week's episode of the The Last Round Podcast. . . The immediate rematch clause has nothing whatsoever to do with the WBC.ryandmosley wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:45You're the "mandatory" challenger... but you have to win the rematch. It was put in place by Matchroom and/or Whyte.
Nearly all money-spinning A-side fighters impose immediate rematch clauses on their opponents.
Re: Clarify me bruhs on the hws
Look sir, I am not here to engage in a debate with you regarding this absurdity of an immediate rematch after a guy clobbers somebody in the fourth round. I am well-aware of how contracts work, and the fact that the contract contained an immediate rematch clause. What I am saying is that the WBC’s declaration that he’s a mandatory while also taking no position on the immediate rematch (and allowing the parties to insert an immediate rematch clause into the contract for an eliminator fight they sanctioned in the first place) rings very, very hollow. They have full authority to say that Pov is mandatory no matter the outcome of the rematch yet his mando status is completely contingent on the rematch. So don’t come at me with this stuff that the WBC Is helpless at the mercy of this contract. Because they aren’t. They know good and well the dollar value of a Fury-Whyte fight in the UK versus a Fury-Povetkin fight literally anywhere. And in my opinion that is what is driving them into their neutral position. Will there be an immediate rematch clause in the contract for the immediate rematch? Is the mandatory status contingent on the immediate re-rematch.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:49The immediate rematch clause has nothing whatsoever to do with the WBC.ryandmosley wrote: ↑27 Aug 2020, 14:45You're the "mandatory" challenger... but you have to win the rematch.
