Any Ortiz news?

Post by margaret thatcher »

What's next for Pov's older drug-brother Ort? Hopefully not more weak stuff like Cojanu and Kauffman and Martz and Dave...that's who he's been fighting lately if it's not Wilder, who obviousy he's not fighting next. Hopefully better than Hammer too, though Chris did give him a pulpy nose.

I wonder if this hugely avoided boogeyman would still turn down 7m to fight Josh. Maybe if Fury-Wilder 4 happens (perhaps an overlooked possibility? Not like Wilder hasnt gotten close to beating Fur) and Josh can't fight either of them, Luis could get another chance to find his pen for AJ

If i was fringe contender id be hunting that fight with strick drug testing. He is considered by many top 5 in the Div, even though he is 50 and never beat anyone good. Beat him, and half the fans of boxing will consider it a crazy win...

Personaly, i think Bakoli, Hughie, hunter, Parker, Rivas, Hrgovic, and even Yoka should be asking for that fight.... Ortiz off peds is a shell of himself, and who knows if he was even very good... (probably was, but never realy proved it.)

Those could be interesting matchups. Bakole, Hughie, Rivas, Parker are especially good options, as they have nothing to lose. Hughie although won't give a good fight to Ortiz.

Povetkin is only still fighting because he lost all his money in a bad investment

Ortiz would ko him 5 years ago but he's mid 40s at least now.

I just want to see him fight someone who is at least pretty good. I have seen his hypothetical record build for years now, and read how he's so avoided and he'll KO this guy, and KO that guy, and how this fight would be a mismatch etc, but instead he just bounces back and forth between junk fights and KOs to Wilder

Can we not get an in between there?

He was clearly pretty good crushing Jennings and Thompson but he got stuck in risk/reward land and lost his big chance against wilder. Hes wasted potential like tons of fighters

Hes through now. Inactivity kills old fighters

He was, though that's like 5 years ago and Thompson was even older than he is now lol

Jennings and Perez, they fight to a 6-6 with only a deduction separating them, and then both get crushed and sent downhill pretty much right after by the drug bois, maybe they ruined each other :oo

I honestly think Ortiz would have a better chance beating Fury than Wilder does. He thoroughly outboxed Wilder last time before getting caught by a big shot, and Fury doesn't have that kind of power. There has to be a reason few want to fight him, other than him being a southpaw. Even at his advanced age, I think he is technically, skills-wise, top 3 in the HW division.

Fury will neutralize Ortiz from the outside and maul inside. Ortiz still will be stopped. just more likely technically.

I think Fury would be a nightmare for a slow-footed plodder like Ortiz. It has Fury wide decision all over it I think.

AJ offered Ortiz millions and he turned it down, only for him and his trainer to admit regretting it later.

I'd agree though that even at his age he should have enough to still beat most dudes though, but it seems he either takes KO losses to Wilder or fights cans, so we might not know. Maybe all the PEDs will have helped him with his longevity too :yay:

He had a very safe career, that's why he still can do something. No life-taking fights, except being KOed twice by Wilder.

A hard hitting well schooled southpaw is too risky for a tune-up, but too old and slow for a serious fight. No wonder he can't get the big fights he wants. Him choosing to fight Wilder over AJ's big offer can't really be held against him in my eyes.

Speaking of PEDS, who is left from the top 5 guys at heavy that have been PED free throughout their careers?
