What a horrible scoring...I find it hard to give Ramos more than 2 rounds. Ugas was well in control most of the fight but should have pressed it more. He didn´t win many new fans with this performance. Had Ugas won more impressively he would be in a good position for a money fight but I think his approach was too cautious.

Ugas nearly discloted his own shoulder throwing that at 0:21 seconds.

Re: Yordenis Ugas vs. Abel Ramos - September 6, 2020
The scorecards were a total joke. Such a disgrace. It was Uras' fight, except a couple of episodes. Ramos only stole the 3rd and the 12th rounds, where he wobbled Ugas with left hooks. Those could be the best punches of the fight, but apart from that Ugas was comfortably outboxing Ramos. It wasn't even close. It was also a quite boring bout, just because a one guy wasn't able to do almost anything. No intrigue at all. Joe Goossen was right, when he was telling, that Ramos should have tried to make it a fight instead of boxing with a superior boxer. Ugas methodically was outscoring Ramos round after round, blowing only a couple of them.

Wow, I started watching something else when the fight was over and didn't wait for the scorecards. All 3 cards are absolutely insane. Ugas won every round. There is no argument for Ramos winning more than 1 or 2 rounds at most.
Lou Moret is f*cking senile and should never judge another fight again. That's one of the worst cards in boxing history.

I see Ramos has risen to #12 in the BoxRec rankings off the strength of those scorecards. Lame.

Judging The Judges - By Jake Donovan
Once upon a time, Dr. Lou Moret held the distinction as a top shelf ring official.
Those days are long gone, as well as his ability to properly score a high-profile fight.
Yordenis Ugas should never have to look back on his ring record and explain why he was forced to settle for a split decision win in one of the best performances of his career to date. Such a fate is what he has to accept, though, as the 2008 Olympic Bronze medalist for Cuba had to sweat out a 12-round victory over Abel Ramos atop a special Sunday edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox.
Judges Zachary Young and Edward Hernandez both scored the contest 115-113 in favor of Ugas, tallies that still seemed too close. Still, they are far more digestible than the 117-111 scorecard submitted by Moret in favor of Ramos in Sunday’s main event live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Amazingly, the three judges were unanimous in seven of the 12 rounds. All three ringside officials had Ugas sweeping rounds one, two and nine, while awarding rounds three, six, eleven and twelve in favor of Ramos. Rounds three and twelve saw Ramos land power shots which clearly buckled Ugas.
Following the clean sweep in the opening two rounds, Ugas would win just one more—round nine—on the card of Moret who favored Ramos’ singular moments of success in the majority of the rounds to that of Ugas’ jab-heavy offensive output.
Just because judges Young and Hernandez had the right boxer winning does not mean they are completely off the hook. Still, the two generally saw the same fight as they agreed on ten of the twelve rounds scored. The only two rounds on which they differed were rounds seven and ten.
Young and Moret agreed on eight rounds. The four rounds on which they differed—rounds four, five, seven and eight—were frames were Moret scored all for Ramos while Young ruled in favor of Ugas.
Moret and Hernandez were also in lock step on eight of the ten rounds. Once again, all of the rounds on which they did not see eye-to-eye—rounds four, five, eight and ten—went to Ramos on Moret’s card.
None of the three judges had more than three rounds where they were in the minority.
Moret was the lone judge to award rounds four, five and eight in favor of Ramos.
Young cast the dissenting score in just one round, with Ugas taking round seven on his card while Moret and Hernandez had Ramos winning the frame.
Hernandez was on his own only for round ten, scoring in favor of Ugas whereas it served as the starting point for a three-round sweep on the respective scorecards of Young and Moret.
Sunday’s main event marks at least the third time this summer where Moret turned in a scorecard that warrants at least an explanation in front of a panel interested in any sort of reform. The 75-year old official was part of the August 8 return of PBC on Fox, where he had unbeaten junior middleweight David Morrell pitching a 12-round shutout over Lennox Allen, as well as awarding a landslide win (97-92) in favor of Lucas Santamaria over Mykal Fox in a bout most observers felt was much closer.

Ugas-Ramos Fox Main Event Peaks At 1,260,000 Viewers, Most Watched Fight Since Pandemic
Yordenis Ugas didn’t get much help from the three judges in his latest victory in the ring, though he did his part to deliver a much-needed win for the Fox Sports family.
A special Sunday evening edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox averaged 1,019,000 viewers over the course of the 156-minute telecast, according to Nielsen Media Research. The show was headlined by Ugas’ strangely-scored split decision win over Abel Ramos in their secondary welterweight title fight, which peaked at 1,260,000 viewers at the 10:00-10:15pm ET block, towards the end of the 12-round main event.
Both figures land as the most watched boxing event this summer and the best-performing boxing telecast on any network since the March 7 edition of PBC on Fox—the last PBC show to air on any platform prior to the start of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The show enjoyed a 22% improvement overall from the preceding August 29 PBC on Fox show, which averaged just 833,000 viewers. That show was headlined by Erislandy Lara in a 12-round win over Greg Vendetti to defend a secondary junior middleweight title, which peaked at just 1,067,000 viewers.
The September 6 show marked the fourth PBC on Fox event to air live in primetime since the pandemic, along with being the lone card to air on a Sunday night. Its ratings performance is further magnified by airing on a busy sports night, going head-to-head with the NBA and NHL Playoffs on ABC and NBC, respectively.
Ugas (26-2, 12KOs) appeared in his third Fox headliner. The 34-year old from Miami by way of Santiago de Cuba, Cuba dropped a tightly contested 12-round split decision to Shawn Porter in their welterweight title fight last March. The show averaged 2,142,000 viewers and peaked at 2,197,000.
Two years prior, Ugas came up aces in a 10-round victory over Thomas Dulorme in an August 2017 main event which averaged 2,436,000 viewers. The show aired as a special televised preliminary card to Floyd Mayweather’s final career fight, a 10th round knockout of Conor McGregor atop the second highest grossing Pay-Per-View event in boxing history.
Ugas outperformed both Porter and Dulorme this summer.
Porter—a former two-time welterweight titlist from Las Vegas by way of Akron, Ohio—outpointed Germany’s Sebastian Formella on the August 22 PBC on Fox card, with the main event peaking at 1,225,000 viewers and averaging 1,077,000. Eerily similar numbers came of Puerto Rico’s Dulorme’s 12-round loss to Minnpeapolis’ Jamal James on the August 8 summer season premiere of PBC on Fox whose bout averaged 1,077,000 viewers and peaked at 1,224,000.
Prior to Sunday’s show airing in primetime, came a preliminary undercard event which aired live on FS1. The three-fight show averaged 152,000 viewers—up 28% from the 119,000 average for all four PBC on FS1 shows this summer. The prelim portion peaked at 186,000 viewers from 7:15-7:30pm ET, as part of Cody Crowley’s 10-round unanimous decision win over Josh Torres in the telecast’s main event.
The next primetime edition of PBC on Fox is due to take place November 7, although the main event has yet to be established. PBC on FS1 will return on September 26, again with the card details to be announced in the near future.

Ugas - Crawford interests me a lot. Who promotes Ugas ? Is that fight possibility ?
