Sir Henry Cooper vs. Mike Tyson

Post by AntonioMartin »

Could Coop outbox Tyson, then maybe club him with a finisher or would it be another old fashioned Tyson knockout?

Tyson would run through Cooper. Sir Henry was a stylistic gift for Tyson, he was much slower than Mike and too opened for him. Tyson by the stoppage in about 3-5 rounds.

Tyson early. Maybe 2 or 3 rounds. He had too much skill speed and power for Henry to handle. Henry would be bloodied and annihilated.

Not a good fight for Henry in any shape or form.......

.....unless Mike was too cocky/casual and he literally walked straight onto a colossal left hook early on. Or maybe a badly demotivated Tyson - hating the Kings and not hitting the gym - gets himself in some bother.

Henry was physically tough, disciplined, proud and had that bingo shot - also powerful for a man of his size - but Tyson is too strong, hits on another scale and his speed across the ring would have been a problem for Henry.

I can see Henry giving it a go, trying to get something on Tyson first - he was never lacking in cojones - but either it is a clean Tyson KO as Henry attempts this or the Londoner gets cut very badly and the fight gets stopped.

Feels a bit harsh fella....especially the crippled for life bit.

Cooper would lose this and get stopped (no doubt) but he knew how to look after himself in the ring and was a capable pro and not a tomato can straight out of Palookaville.

I can't put forward a case for Cooper to make it past three rounds I'm afraid,

Which Tyson is this? If this is prime 87-90 Tyson he can indeed finish it earlier in the first 3 or 4 rounds. If it's post-prime, then it will be a close fight, with Tyson stopping him late or winning via UD.

Why would you do that to poor Henry?

Tyson would slaughter him.

KO within 4 rounds no doubt. Possibly 1. And if goes past 1 round Cooper is likely a bloody mess.
