Efe Ajagba come is worst shape at weigh in

Post by Boxtune »

Ajagba never came in this kind of shape. At Plex gym he was doing of resistant training, today he looks soft even waist look thick but he isn't any heavier. Not sure he is taking Jonathan rice lightly .

It wouldn't have been so funny if it didn't have such a ring of truth about it.

Efe wins a decision, scores 9-1 and 8-2 twice

Didn't see it, but unfortunetly for the Efe train it's another result that doesn't really seem very inspiring, at least for the dudes who pictured him as being up there with the very best (i still think he's got good potential......the division isnt deep enough for it to be otherwise)

It was more like 97-93 or 96-94. Seems Efe hurt his right hand during the fight. He moved somewhat better, but really seems stagnant in his development.

Man, if it really was that competitive it's not a good sign, Rice is tough but should not be causing that much trouble for a top prospect

Honestly, I think Jared Anderson could stop Rice now

Efe just hasn't gotten better. Wondering what the hell is going on with him. Although as i said before, it looked like he hurt his right hand early in the fight.

Good fight for learning, Bad fight for hype. That said, i dont think efe is a top prospect and dont think he will make it at world level. His last few fights have been pretty mediocre.
But, 26, 6'6 and athletic, If they put keep him at the right level, and fight him often, who knows he could get pretty good over the next 2-5 years.

I agree. Along with you I was one of Efe's early boosters but he doesnt seem to be developing stylistically. I will cut him a little
slack due to an injured hand and a new trainer. He still hasnt mastered an effective one-two punch. He throws a solid jab but when he follows up with the right he delivers it a clumsy & ineffective manner. He's been doing that since at least the Demirezen fight.

Ajagba’s looked very mediocre (or borderline disappointing) for his last four outings.

He consistently fails to justify the hype that has been prematurely bestowed upon him.

He’s young though, so he could learn and improve, but in the meantime, I won’t bother watching any of his fights until he achieves something noteworthy.

His career is progressing at a very slow pace and I’ve grown weary of seeing him face subpar opposition.

He's never really struck me as a future Champion, but sometimes when a guy gets built up by the hype machine you can at least make him a significant title challenger a time or two maybe.

Though if they don't watch their step he may well get beat before he ever gets a title shot. Quite likely will in fact. Unless they really take care of him.

An awful sparring session. Ajagba had a task to jab and to throw occasional right hands. Rice had a task to walk and to throw something just sometimes. Ajagba ate a bunch of absolutely unnecessary right hands.

So imagine if he's fighting a guy with a deadly right hand. Like say...Wilder.

The new trainer has basicly UNDONE all good things Ronnie Sheilds brought to Ajagba.

Ajagba looked fat and soft muscled ! Imo anyone who can't see that is BLIND ?! He was gasping air, I'm not even sure he trained properly for last few months

Well, hardly any boxer has, have they? All heavyweights will be carrying an extra bit of timber. COVID restrictions have put a bit of a roadblock in the way of heavyweights being peak fitness. They'll all be that bit chubbier and rustier, unless they're big money guys with access to proper facilities.

That said I'm not especially interested in Ajagba and will probably never watch this fight.

Ajagba makes too many rookie mistakes.

People need to stop making excuses for his poor performances.

I’m sure Ajagba will eventually improve, because he’s only a youngster, but until he looks good against decent opposition, I think we shouldn’t realign our expectations accordingly.
