Press Release

The Rotunda Rumble will return to The Rotunda at Caesars Bluewaters Dubai on October 9 – and features a superb main event between undefeated Viktor Kotochigov and Maxi Hughes for the WBC International lightweight title.

The Rotunda Rumble IV event will be produced by D4G Promotions in association with Round 10 Boxing and MTK Global – and will be broadcast live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV.

Kazakh hero Kotochigov (12-0, 5 KOs) is back following his impressive stoppage win over Andrei Isayeu in Almaty a fortnight ago, while Hughes (21-5-2, 4 KOs) returns after his upset win against former world title challenger Jono Carroll on an MTK Fight Night last month.

Elsewhere on next month’s card, amateur sensation Hovhannes Bachkov makes his highly-awaited professional debut, rising star Cesar Mateo Tapia (12-0, 7 KOs) is back, the always-exciting Rohan Date (12-0-1, 9 KOs) returns, Liverpool talent Blane Hyland (3-0) competes, and Faizan Anwar (3-0, 3 KOs) goes in search for another stoppage win when he faces the experienced JR Mendoza.

Ahmed A. Seddiqi of D4G Promotions said: “I’m delighted to announce another huge edition of the Rotunda Rumble. We’ve seen some incredible events in this region over the past year, and it’s an honour to return to the prestigious Caesars Bluewaters Dubai with another stellar card.

“Big time boxing has been missing from Dubai for the past six months due to the pandemic, so we can’t wait to have it return in a massive way with this fantastic event full of boxing superstars.

“The main event sees two exciting lightweights square off as Viktor Kotochigov faces Maxi Hughes, plus we have the much-anticipated debut of Hovhannes Bachkov, which is sure to be an occasion not to be missed.

“Unbeaten quartet Cesar Mateo Tapia, Rohan Date, Faizan Anwar and Blane Hyland all return too, so we can’t wait for next month as this is certain to be yet another spectacular event to grace Dubai.”

Good lad is Maxi, trained with a few of my mates. Had a few losses along the way but kept going and good to see him getting some decent headline fights.

Maxi Hughes made up to be fighting for the WBC International lightweight title in Dubai so soon after Jono Carroll win

Maxi Hughes believes fighting regularly brings the best out of him

Maxi Hughes is still on cloud nine after his win over Jono Carroll - and he plans to keep the momentum going by earning another massive victory against Viktor Kotochigov on next month's action-packed #RotundaRumble card.

The must-see D4G Promotions event takes place at The Rotunda at Caesars Bluewaters Dubai on October 9 in association with Round 10 Boxing and MTK Global – and will be broadcast live in the US on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank, and worldwide on IFL TV.

Hughes (21-5-2, 4 KOs) challenges Kotochigov (12-0, 5 KOs) for his WBC International lightweight title at the event, and the Yorkshire hero is confident his career resurgence will continue.

Hughes said: "It’s great to be straight back into another big fight only eight weeks after the Jono Carroll fight. Fighting regular will bring the best out of me. I stayed in the gym, kept sharp and kept improving.

"After watching the fight with Jono back I’m generally happy with it, but there were still loads of things I could have done better. Although the fight was a clear enough win, I feel I could have been more clinical, but I suppose that’s all part of developing your craft.

"It’s amazing what one good win can do for your career. Five weeks ago I was brought in as an opponent, and now I’m topping the bill in Dubai fighting for the WBC International title. I’ll just keep the momentum going and keep knocking doors down."

MTK Global immediately signed the 30-year-old Yorkshire star after his unanimous decision verdict over Irishman Carroll in August to rejuvenate his 10-year-long career, where he plans to climb the world rankings starting with the WBC International contest.

Elsewhere on next month's huge card, amateur sensation Hovhannes Bachkov makes his highly-awaited professional debut, Rohan Date takes on Macaulay McGowan, Blane Hyland faces Mohamed Salah Abdelghany, and Faizan Anwar goes up against JR Mendoza.

Class Maxi, see, what's wrong with getting a career best win than going at it a few weeks later and keeping cracking?? A good win is class but 2 good wins builds double the plaudits and exposure when done in a matter of weeks, Hughes has just skipped the queue, domestically at least

Great win for Maxi.

Would love to see the rematch with Sam Bowen as both are now at lightweight.

More evidence that fighter can learn from defeats and improve over time, deserves a domestic title shot off the back of his last two fights.
