Leonel Barcelos isn't rated by the WBA.

Andrew Selby and Koki Eto only retired at the end of June and I guess it takes several weeks to update the rankings accordingly. Perhaps they're waiting for written confirmation from both parties to remove them from their system?

Akira Yaegashi only retired six days ago.

Yuto Takahashi and Dwight Ritchie are admittedly strange mistakes to make.

Abe ranked above Sagawa is a head scratcher, given Sagawa won when they fought last year

When the WBA initially posted their "Official Ratings As of August" on August 31, Barcelos was listed at #13 at 115.

The WBA either realized the absurdity of ranking Barcelos as a Top 15 super flyweight, or it was pointed out to them. Either way, as a result, they changed the 13th, 14th, and 15th spots from 13- Barcelos, 14- Jade Bornea, and 15- Orlando Penalba to 13- Bornea, 14- Lucas Fernandez, and 15- Penalba. Interestingly enough, it was Fernandez (Lucas Emanuel Fernandez Leone) who stopped Barcelos in the latter's last bout in 2015.

Fernandez is the only fighter to have beaten current WBA "regular" champion Joshua Franco in a pro bout and may have belonged in the WBA's rankings all along. It's not that much of a stretch to assume that the WBA originally listed Barcelos in error, having somehow mixed him up with Fernandez.

Personally, I would base those ranking decisions on inactivity and completely ignore whether the fighter says he's retired. Half the time all they mean is "I'm not gonna fight for a while." He stays inactive for a certain period, unrank him. He hasn't done that yet, leave him in there.

Alot of people dont like Floyd Mayweather. I'm no exception really but it shouldnt be forgotten that he paid for the funeral expenses of Genaro Hernandez the former jr lightweight champion that he defeated a generous act.
