Ya, that could well be it, I haven't been impressed myself. You'd think he's shown enough to at least have them do better than these 2 patsies though

I mean Pala hasnt even fought for 6.5 years, how the f@ck did he come to someone's mind in the first place. When Rydell Booker is the better of the opponents you know you are swimming in some stinky steamy nutty sh!t

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
The Rydell Booker fight might not happen (perhaps not on the 3rd October as originally planned), because Matchroom US haven't got any events scheduled yet. Eddie Hearn has made certain promises, but nothing has happened or been officially announced.Rgoodwin wrote: ↑01 Sep 2020, 01:34This is honestly the best Hearn and Sauerland can do?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Aug 2020, 20:26 Rydell Booker and Ondrej Pala, sheet, our boi Fill is making some big moves![]()
Also, I'm not sure whether Filip Hrgovic's bout against the appalling Ondrej Pala is being staged behind-closed-doors or not. I personally think it is.
Even though tickets for the event are being sold via Ticketmaster (very limited availability), there's an official Danish police website that states large events (more than 100 people) are prohibited until the 1st November.
And it seems likely that Hrgovic's bout won't be covered by Sky Sports or DAZN either, so there won't be much money available to fund decent opposition.
In fact the entire 26th September Sauerland fight card is pretty dire.
Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
Ondrej Pala??? Stone me that's not a name I ever expected to see again on a schedule of upcoming fights. Say who do you think is likely to win?

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
To be fair on the notoriously chinny Price, it wasn't even a legitimate knockdown.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑31 Aug 2020, 21:32 I will give you this: Pala did drop David Price---no one has managed that before
The ref clearly made a mistake (unless my interpretation of a knockdown is incorrect since Price was decked due to being dragged to the canvas from a left swing forearm that connected to the back of David's neck).
Anyway, moving on, surely Filip Hrgovic spars against better opposition than Pala? He's facing a 36-year old that hasn't fought for 6½ years?
Ondrej Pala has only won one fight (which was a first-round KO against a novice with a one-win one-loss record), in almost eight years.
Why is this mismatch being sanctioned by the sports' governing bodies?
What are Sauerland hoping to achieve by promoting this utterly rancid mismatch?
Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
If Hrgovic can fight on Sauerland and matchroom shows why is he only 10-0? Why has he been so inactive?
Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
Hrgovic at first seemed to be tracked good, but eventually here's this sh!t.

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
Barring the enforced COVID-19 layoff, he typically competes every 80 days or 2½ months.
And by the time he engages in the horrendously bad September 26th mismatch, he would have been inactive (through no choice of his own) for roughly ten months.
His inactivity isn’t much of an issue for me, the main problem is the speed his career is being progressed.
He had a long and fairly accomplished amateur career (91 fights), engaged in thirty WSB bouts and was also a sparring partner for the likes of David Haye, Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder and Kubrat Pulev, so I don’t see the purpose of him engaging in blatant mismatches against Ondrej Pala and Rydell Booker.
He's not going to learn anything by facing opponents that are very likely far weaker than the men he spars with, unless he's desperate for the payday.
Put it this way, Anthony Joshua was less experienced than Hrgovic was when he made his pro debut, but the Brit still managed to capture his first world title 2½ years later (after competing in 15 bouts).
In stark contrast, the next time he steps foot inside the ring, Filip Hrgovic would have been a pro for three years, having engaged in ten bouts, but will be facing journeyman-calibre (borderline mismatch) opposition for his next two outings.

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
Barring a couple of exceptions, (since COVID-19) 2020 is turning out to be the year of the “tune-up stay-busy bout”, because many prospects and big-name fighters are being matched against journeymen. It's fairly disapointing to see.morm wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 02:26 Pala out

I get tune ups, And its not like Pala was great, but this new opponent is taking the piss. There is nothing to be learnt from a top prospect fighting the 650th ranked heavyweight. This is literally just buying a win, It shouldent be sanctioned.
This guy got knocked out by snijder they guy everyone was upset about DDD fighting.

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
If he's gonna fight this level of opposition they should try to get him out a 3rd time this year
Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
agree, i was thinking that Hrgovic coud take a worsest opponent that DDD did, but he did ...he take a opponent who loss to DDD opponent... catastrofuckgregregegg wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 05:25 I get tune ups, And its not like Pala was great, but this new opponent is taking the piss. Press Release
Filip Hrgovic (10-0, 8 KOs) will have a new opponent on Saturday night as he will now face off against Greece’s Alexandre Kartozia (8-1-1, 7 KOs) at the Struer Energi Park in Denmark, who has replaced Ondrej Pala.
Following a short notice withdrawal from Pala and with no time to spare, Team Sauerland are delighted to confirm that the heavy handed Kartozia has accepted the fight and will arrive in Denmark shortly.
Kartozia will be fighting for the second time this year having secured a third round knockout victory over Mexico’s Manuel Duran at the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana on January 25th.
“People think he is scary because he has a good amateur career and his nickname is The Animal,” said Kartozia. “Well, I fear no man. He has never felt power like I have and I hope he overlooks me, because this Saturday night I will create history and change the future.”
“Obviously a short notice change of opponent is never ideal for the fighter,” said Promoter Nisse Sauerland. “It is difficult enough to find opponents for Filip at the best of times, but especially during the current situation.
“Kartozia says he is going to fight fire with fire and that he is a true gladiator, so we are sure both men will put on a great show and the fans at the Struer Energi Park Arena will not be disappointed.”
Hrgovic vs Kartozia is as a co-feature to local hero Dina Thorslund (14-0, 6 KOs) in Struer as she defends her WBO Female World Super Bantamweight Championship against Serbian challenger Nina Radovanovic (14-3, 3 KOs).
The return of live boxing will also see Team Sauerland’s latest signing Oliver Zaren (2-0, 2 KOs) will make his promotional debut against Volodymyr Romanenko (9-9, 8 KOs) and exciting Danish prospects Oliver Mollenberg (5-0-1, 3 KOs), Payman Akbari (1-0, 1 KO) & Jacob Bank (Pro-debut) also feature on the undercard.

Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
It's disappointing that a better opponent than either Pala or his replacement were not found for Hrgovic. What's the use of mismatches like this?
And Hrgovic's opponent after this is said to be Rydell Booker.
At this point, Hrgovic should be facing people not rated lower than #25 in the BoxRec list of heavyweights.

Holy crap, Rydell Booker is still around? I remember when he was a scrub opponent for James Toney like 15 years ago.
Re: No rumor for fight from Filip Hrgovic ?
Yeah, it looked spectacular.

Toney fight was like 16 years ago, was totally clowned. Was he the guy who was homies with Curtis Stevens and was getting hyped together with him?
