Wladimir Klitschko vs Samuel Peter 1



Klitschko gets off the canvas 3 times to UD Peter over 12 in a non title Heavyweight fight, things started off typical Klitschko, using the jab and straight right, Peter looked dangerous with the single left hook but Wlad done a great job of keeping his right hand up to block them, things turned on their head in the 5th when Peter rocked Wlad with a left hook and as Wlad held on a cuffing right of Peter pushed Klitschko down, some refs might not have scored it but the initial hook did result in him going down, Wlad was down again later in the round, Peter was going for the kill when Wlad went to his knees Peter hit with a right, not a KD for me but ref scored it


Peter gassed after that and Wlad boxed his way back in keeping it simple as Peter done nothing then in the 10th Wlad was down again when Peter right hand sent him down on his pants, again Wlad recovered well enough, Peter hurt him again in the 12th and his legs were shaky for a bit but he did manage to finally hurt Peter after rocking him with a left hook, probably first he threw all night, still Wlad settled for a points win

Holyfield vs Qawi 1.Great fight

Good call; that is a cracking fight.

It's hard to believe that Holyfield was a relative novice up against the experienced Qawi.

Holyfield really showed his mettle, because he was exhausted, but he never stopped plugging away.

I still find it weird that there were 54 rounds of main event fights, with at least 3 arguably great fights on that night and not even a knockdown or at least a slip between all 4, main event quality events in this card!

And yes this is a classic fight in all the sense of the word!

What I think is strange is, there were moments in the Ninth Witherspoon had Holmes clearly hurt and shoulder to shoulder and he just....stood there...maybe he was being aware of Holmes answering with a jab??

Well, Holmes was hurt, but wasn't gone. Witherspoon probably didn't want to force against such an experienced and dangerous opponent. It could have turned out to be an attempt to go at a wounded animal.

Really loved the entire Spoon v Holmes fight and thanks......

.....seen snippets before, so a pleasure to sit back and watch the whole thing

The skill level is really excellent and these two, fine technicians are very closely matched.

I had it for Spoon but perhaps he needed 12-15 extra jolting-clean shots over the course of the fight to swing the thing his way....he just needed to cap off a couple of rounds a bit more conclusively and it was (arguably) job done.

Watching Spoon fight like that now makes me realise that my boyhood hero Bruno was always going to be hard-pressed. Spoon could really, really box and did not need to be as lean and hungry as he was for Holmes.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Calvin Brock



Klitschko KOs Brock in the 7th to retain his World Heavyweight title, started off typical Klitschko controlling things with the jab, Brock looked nervous, jerky and his balance was all over the place, he settled in the 2nd was landing some nice body shots from the outside, Klitschko struggled to get to grips for a few rounds


Klitschko was in control by thr 5th and steadied Brock with a solid lead right, the end came in thr 7th, Brock wobbled again by a right, fair play he tried to fight fire with fire but a Klitschko 1/2 sent him down face first for thr finish

Earl Hargrove's two major losses, for the IBF's vacant world Junior Middleweight title against Mark Medal, and against John Mugabi.

He obviously lost these two bouts but what a fantastic little fighter Earl Hargrove! He was dangerous, had tons of heart and his fights were exciting!

Sam Langford vs Joe Jeanette 10



Langford outpoints Jeanette over 20 rounds in a Heavyweight contest, 25 mins of coloured highlights, no sound so no clue what round was what, Langford did put Jeanette over 3 times in the same round, rocked him with a right which stunned Jeanette then another right sent him over, he was down twice more from Langford attacks, i struggle to enjoy the older fights, too messy, too much mauling and holding for my liking, no doubt these guys were tough but boxing was too crude for me back then

yeah really excellent fight, not sure about the reffing though, I thought the Japanese lad was allowed to take too many shots.

was that John Coyle I saw seemingly on the verge of stopping the fight for what seemed like a whole minute?
