He was bang on too, Fury left no doubts and didn't lose a round when he did what Roach was saying. fiddling around from the outside wasnt nearly decisive enough to win a decision in the usa and it put him right at the end of the long right (and gave Wildeer more time to set it up)

Were dudes worried that Ben's feeling would be a bit hurt or something ?
I felt give some credit where credit was due, it was a great performance from Fury esp with the time he had out.

I certainly wasn't worried about hurting Davisons feelings.

As a trainer let's see, he lacks experience but has had and has got opportunity with some big names, time will tell.

Also everyone has to start somewhere and with work I'm sure he will improve.

Adam booth and Shane Mcguigan were in the same boat when they started, neither had Dean Powell's apprentiship

i'd like to watch that back as when i watched it live, davison just looked like someone off the street saying any old nonsense in the corner just to fill the time. it was embarrassing.

next thing, he's being lauded as a brilliant coach even after he was publicly rumbled by freddie roach
Correct ,,, I said from the start and i'll say it again , You do not wake up from bed one day and say , Mmmm i'm a real good boxer I think i'll headline a show tonight ,,, You go to a gym and LEARN to box ,,,and its the same for trainers , regardless off how good a boxer they were , a good trainer LEARNS to be a good trainer , and you start this off by being an assistant to someone good ,, Theres plenty who started a boxing gym and developed without anyone else , but they still gathered years of experience before they were good . This guy was/is too young to be in charge of someone like Tyson , because he simply does'nt have the experience .

Neither Sugar or Roach , could really teach Tyson anything , he's been boxing since he was 10 , he's learnt of many many a good trainer and he knows his boxing , the only thing Tyson needed to learn was that he's a big strong man and he can walk through anyone if he chooses ,, and I think Roach probably put this in his head and Sugar , finalized it ,, Because they are experinced trainers with thousands of rnds in the corner , Basicly in a nutshell keeping it sweet and simple , where Davidson , was saing to Tyson , we will do this and drawing on a white board making it all scientific ,and box this way , then do a pivot and box that way follow it with an underarm twist , and such nonsence ,, Roach and Sugar , just basicly said look Tyson your bigger stronger and can box , he's only got a right hand , so work your way in cover from the right hand , push him back and take his right hand away ,, then belt the pisser out of the dosser ... And Tyson done it

Problem for Ben is he does'nt have the experience to know its not all rocket science , its has basic has put that fist on that chin ,, Roach and Sugar , could both read Wilder and knew excatly how to beat him
I don't even think it was roach who put it in his head nor sugar finalising it.
I've seen a vid where Tyson said that at the end of the 12th rd in the 1st fight, I knew what I had to do to beat wilder. I think he would of fought like he did in the 2nd fight no matter who he was with. It just made more sense to approach that fight with a trainer who was on the same page.

Good post.

I wonder if, human nature being what it is, it was easier for an outsider to just come in (working on shorter contracts, and with many other irons in the fire so not so much to lose if Tyson got flattened), make the assessment you describe, and drill it into Tyson and prepare him to execute it - as opposed to somebody who has a personal relationship with Tyson, and (or so it seemed at the time) a long term agreement as his trainer that would be very lucrative. The contrast between what Fury did in the first fight, and the second, couldn't be starker.

i kinda of agree with you, because most trainers where just boxers before there not traing novices , but i do think certain top trainers do help but it is with small tweaking , ben seems to over complicate things when i see him not just him, i think a top trainer who is training top fighters gets the fighter in the right frame of mind as lot of it is mental tweaks little things and fit and healthy , i honestly dont think it matters how many trainers youve had unless youre leaving due to bad full outs then there problems

He's a pro trainer, a hall of fame one whose whole life is basically boxing prep, strategy and tactics. I don't see why he needs to keep his opinion of the tactics quiet when asked about it, and he was 100 percent correct, Fury used the tactics Roach wanted in the rematch and was vastly improve with them and without Ben

Should Roach have made a 'good effort' card or participation award for Ben or something? Or ran his hands through Ben's glorious hair while he said it? If he did those things, would he then be free to give his critique? He's wasnt there to be all matey with Ben

Coneye and others was getting fussy about it too, all just seemed a bit sawft from some dudes here

there was a clear gameplan there. Fury had the centre of the ring all fight and moves Wilder to the right with throwaway jabs to walk him into the right hand. Watch the fight. Wilder's being constantly moved in the same direction, round and round, with feints, until he finally gives up and stops in the corner where the fight ends. Fury knew he had to take the fight inside, to take the torque out of Wilder's punches, and he leant all over him and used his size, but he did a lot more than that. I don't think trainers like Sugar Hill just go "look you're bigger than him! Get in there and hurt him!" And then expect a cheque at the end of it.

 Course not ,, theres obviously a game plan to Take away the right hand , to nulify him ect ect ,,, Course its not a case of Ok get in there and murder the Tosser ,,, But point being the game plan and what to do was complety opposite than his prior fight , and based upon using his size being more agressive , and in the end murder the Tosser  , But obviosly what and how to do it were practiced in the gym ,,, my point being these experienced trainers , knew i was dangerous to get too cute with Wilder and risk getting hit with the big one , They knew that controlled agresion was the key , the third fight should be interesting . although i think 90% will tip Fury possibly easier ,, BUT Wilder will still have the power

I don’t think fighters like Josh Taylor would go and work with Davison if he wasn’t up to the job. Taylor has been around knowledgable boxing people for years, he obviously likes something about about Ben and I’m sure it’s not just his hair

He won't want to , BUT highly likely he will .
