Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - November 21, 2020?
By Sean Jones: Gennadiy Golovkin will be fighting two months from now on November 21st, says Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. Golovkin is expected to defend his IBF middleweight belt against his mandatory Kamil Szeremeta on DAZN. The fight will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
There’s not much demand from fans in a Golovkin vs. Szeremeta fight, but it looks like it’s going to happen anyway. Fighting the light-hitting Szeremeta will allow Golovkin to regroup a little following the punishment that Sergiy Derevyanchenko dished out against him last October. Golovkin arguably took more punishment in that fight than any other previous one, including his second bout against Canelo Alvarez.
There’s been zero talk about GGG’s title defense against #1 IBF ranked Szeremeta (21-0, 5 KOs). If this is how the fight will be promoted, DAZN won’t get much value for the money they’re paying Golovkin. The fans would like to see Golovkin face one of the top middleweights like Demetrius Andrade, who would jump at the chance to face GGG if the fight were offered to him.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - November 21, 2020?
At this time the 38 year old GGG can fight whoever he wants.
Maybe even Carl Froch or Joe Calzaghe next in an exhibition?
Who knows?
After years of being screwed around (and cheated twice in plain view) by the Canelo cartel /various promoters he's certainly earned that right.
In a just world we would have seen many more GGG fights, but alas, as everyone knows, this is the world of boxing.

You should of heard by Kammy by now since he's been in talks to fight GGG for like a year or 2 or something
He was the European champion and is a solid technical fighter. He lacks power and is a bit robotic though. At this point though if GGG is still declining it could be more competitive than most predict, Kammy isnt world class but he's not useless either. He is better than the mighty, awesome Steve Rolls
Funny enough ring magazine have kammy #6 and transnational have him #7, omg they pumped him up to hype the fight![[icon_e_surprised.gif] :oo](./images/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif)

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - December 18/19, 2020?
Golovkin to defend against Szeremeta on Dec.18th or 19th on DAZN
Gennadiy Golovkin will be making his long-awaited defense of his IBF middleweight title against mandatory Kamil Szeremeta on December 18th or 19th on DAZN.
Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KOs) is finally getting this fight out of the way against the unbeaten Szeremeta (20-0, 5 KOs).
According to Mike Coppinger, once Golovkin, 38, takes care of Szeremeta, he’ll move on to big “marquee” fights in 2021. The marquee fights involve Demetrius Andrade, Callum Smith, and Billy Joe Saunders.
DAZN is paying Golovkin a lot of money as part of his contract with them, but they’re not going to get their money’s worth with him defending against Szeremeta.
There are a large number of arguably more appealing fighters that Golovkin could face instead of Szeremeta if he wanted to.
Golovkin vs. Szeremeta won’t help DAZN
You can argue that Golovkin would be doing DAZN a massive failure if he vacated his IBF title so that he can focus on fighting talented opposition. DAZN needs to bring in subscribers for their platform, and Golovkin isn’t helping them any by fighting Szeremeta.
GGG to fight marquee names in 2021
“Sources: Gennadiy Golovkin’s title defense against Kamil Szeremeta is being targeted for Dec. 18 or Dec. 19 in the U.S. on DAZN. Once the streaming service finally sorts this out for GGG, he can look to marquee fights in the spring of 2021,” said @MikeCoppinger on Golovkin’s next fight.
These are the “marquee” name opponents Golovkin will be trying to fight next year:
“Billy Joe Saunders, Callum Smith, Demetrius Andrade,” Coppinger said in naming the marquee fights that Golovkin will be looking to take in 2021 on DAZN.
Andre is easily the best of those three. Callum and Saunders are both from the UK and coming off of unimpressive performances.

The tortuous and tangled road into getting those 2 big money fights against Canelo has totally derailed GGGs career.
He's done really well mentally in surviving his interactions with the Vegas based money laundering system.
No doubt his own share of the proceeds will have helped. Even if it at times it might have felt like trying to get blood from stone.
At least he now better understands this 'sport'.
As do a number of fans who increasingly wish to see a fair fight.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - December 18/19, 2020?
Szeremeta is a no-hoper in this fight, Golovkin still has some gas left in the tank, not too much but if that's not enough, then he is totally done. Szeremeta is nothing special, decent euro-level fighter, world's top 15-20 potential at best imo.
He's feather-fisted (though not as much as his record suggests, seems like he made some improvement in timing and punching power differentation) and Golovkin has a granite chin, GGG is still quite busy in the ring and has a decent stamina, Szeremeta went full 12 rounds only once and he looked quite tired and did significantly worse in the last few rounds. I can't how Szeremeta can win this fight.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Kamil Szeremeta - November 21, 2020?
Let's not forget that the self-promoted GGG chose to face the anonymous, unheralded and unaccomplished Steve Rolls instead of exploiting his mandatory challenger status to compete for the WBO world middleweight title held by Demetrius Andrade (despite Andrade & Golovkin being network stablemates).Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Nov 2020, 15:38“I signed up before this whole coronavirus situation occurred.” I’m talking about the fight against Sheremete. – “Alvarez? You actually refused to fight me in September. They did not want to fight in May 2020 either. So I went my own way. I have my own career and thought: How long should I wait?”
And let's not forget that the self-promoted GGG insisted on facing Kamil Szeremeta before engaging in a third bout against Canelo.
Finally, when GGG was in training for the Steve Rolls bout, Canelo was facing Daniel Jacobs. And when GGG was announcing his title defence against Kamil Szeremeta, Canelo had just fought Sergey Kovalev.
And now there's talk of Canelo's team finalising negotiations with Caleb Plant to challenge for the IBF super-middleweight world title around the same date GGG is intending to face Kamil Szeremeta. Who do you think has the toughest fight.
A few more points to consider:
• During April, Johnathan Banks and also the media reported that Canelo was willing to face GGG next (i.e. September 2020), but Golovkin’s representatives rejected the opportunity, by informing DAZN's executive chairman, John Skipper, that Golovkin had insisted on facing Szeremeta instead.
• Johnathon Banks told Sports Illustrated (during April 2020) about GGG’s intention to engage in a tune-up fight against Kamil Szeremeta before facing Canelo
• Gennadiy Golovkin told Sports Illustrated (during May 2020) his intention to refrain from facing the Mexican again until he's competed in the Kamil Szeremeta fight.
• Eddie Hearn informed Sports Illustrated (during May 2020) about DAZN’s plans for GGG to capture the vacant IBF title, perform a mandatory defence before eventually facing Canelo for a third time during September 2020. This was DAZN’s original plan before August 2019. And when COVID-19 delayed GGG’s IBF title defence, DAZN wanted Gennadiy to stick to the original plan by facing Canelo during September 2020, but Golovkin insisted on fighting Szeremeta instead.
• How on earth does a fighter, like Kamil Szeremeta, who only has five KO victories to his name, go from being unranked by The RING, to being awarded sixth place in their ratings on the back of three victories over anonymous journeymen? Is it because The RING’s owner, Oscar De La Hoya, is affiliated with DAZN, which is GGG’s network? During March of last year, Szeremeta rejected the opportunity to face Golovkin, because he said he wouldn't be ready by the proposed fight-date. The fighter from Poland was previously unranked by The RING a couple of months prior.

Szeremeta was always willing to fight Golovkin. However, Głowacki already had a scheduled bout on the same date (15/06 in Riga vs Briedis), Kamil and Krzysztof have the same trainer and that was the problem.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 05:37 During March of last year, Szeremeta rejected the opportunity to face Golovkin, because he said he wouldn't be ready by the proposed fight-date.

Very true. Golovkin was very avoided and poor managed and promoted as a fighter when he was younger and in his prime.Thomastearns wrote: ↑24 Sep 2020, 12:53 At this time the 38 year old GGG can fight whoever he wants.

Names like Martinez, Chavez Jr and Quillin should've been in Golovkin's resume. If I remember correctly after Golovkin beat Rubio he became the No. 1 mandatory challenger for the wbc w.m title of Miguel Cotto- who fought Geale and then Canelo @ 155 lbs for that wbc mw title. Then Canelo defended his wbc mw title against 147 lbs Amir Khan and then dumped it b/c he had to fight Golovkin. lol
I think at his age Golovkin should go for fighters like Munguia, Murata and why not Martinez.

Golovkin vs Martinez? Total mismatch and execution. It's like if Beterbiev or Briedis fought Roy Jones Jr now.

Whatever the reason, it was clear to me that Szeremeta was always willing to face Golovkin, but for some reason, he was unable to agree to the date being proposed by Team GGG when negotiations took place during February/March 2019.aicheligad wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 07:40Szeremeta was always willing to fight Golovkin. The English-speaking media simply reported that Szeremeta had rejected the opportunity to face GGG because he "wasn't ready", but I agree with you, that can potentially mean many things, such his trainer's scheduled being tied-up.
The problem I’m having is that Canelo always seems to take the brunt of the blame for business decisions that GGG makes.

Do you no longer consider GGG one of the top dogs at 160lbs? Would you prefer he engages in bouts that form part of a Mike Tyson-esque 160lbs veteran's league instead?apollo creed wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 08:08I think it would sell better than Golovkin vs BJS/Andrade or Callum.aicheligad wrote: ↑10 Nov 2020, 08:03Honestly, do you think that somebody would pay big money in 2020 for Golovkin vs Martinez?
