It’s as bizarre as MTK Lake District.

Dave Allen will be his toughest test :box:
He may even lose.
From what little I have seen of Zhang, Joe Joyce has quicker feet

Would be the Matchroom way! Try to build a regional brand around someone who isn't a star, see also Tevin Farmer and Demetrius Andrade

It seems like they're all in a race today to see who can expand to more places, even if it's in name only and nothing comes of it

Allen is a good matchup for Zhang, he won't provide any big problems. Zhang will probably even stop him. It will be far more interesting to see Zhang against someone from top-20.

At the moment, Zhang has never been tested against a top contender in the weight class.

In order to build a fight with Joshua, Hearn must match Zhang against some decent names.

"Zhang is good, a good amateur background and he’s a big old lump but he’s untested really as a pro," Hearn told Metro.co.uk.

"But this is could be a good example of what we were talking about of moving into other markets. I’d like to do Anthony Joshua vs Zhang at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing. That would be huge. Anthony Joshua is a global superstar, sold out at Wembley, sold out in Cardiff, sold out Madison Square Garden, in Saudi Arabia. We want to take him everywhere, and that includes places like China and Africa."

Hope dave allen gets though his sparing and gets this fight. I think its a good level for allen and if he is fit and not cabbaged from sparing usyk and pov could see him pull a sneaky upset win.

Zhilei Zhang is Still Hoping For Future Revenge Bout With Anthony Joshuav

Unbeaten heavyweight slugger Zhilei Zhang of China is still eager to get revenge on his amateur rival, Anthony Johsua.

Zhang (23-0-1, 18 KOs) captured an Olympic silver medal in the 2008 games. He hoped to capture gold at the 2012 games in London, but he was knocked off by Joshua, who eventually walked away with the gold medal.

Joshua lost his WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk back in September.

There is a rematch clause, with the second contest targeted to take place in the first quarter of 2022.

Zhang believes a fight with Joshua could fill out a massive stadium in China.

Both fighters are promoted by Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing - which makes the fight a realistic possibility in the future.

"I would love to fight AJ in China because of our amateur backgrounds," Zhang told Australia's Fightmag.

“The venue is there, the Bird’s Nest holds 100,000, so we have it all. Beijing and Shanghai are the biggest cities, very economically developed and boxing in China is growing. The sports fans there like boxing, they like AJ, so if we can make it happen it would be huge for boxing."

Zhang was in action last month at the Hulu Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, as part of the undercard to George Kambosos' upset win over Teofimo Lopez.

He blew away Craig Lewis in two rounds.

At 38-years-old, time is running out for the 6'6 Zhang. He needs to get moving to secure the big names and world title opportunities. Currently he is ranked at thirteen by the IBF and eighth by the WBO.

Eddie would be all over this if it was anything other than really difficult to do.

There are so many hurdles they’d have to jump over to get the fight on in China that I can’t see it ever happening.

Not sure how that kind of thing could happen nowadays. It’s not like some Nigerian president is going to offer £50m it to show off their country.

I know.

Hearn was saying a few years back, AJ would have a fight in Africa.

I hope so to.
I don't know about upset win though - have you seen Zhang fight yet?
Mags put it succinctly, in that he has slower feet than Joe Joyce :o

I don't know. One Nigerian bloke wanted to give me £100m for nothing. I was too proud to take it.

not for nothing, you of course needed to pay £1000 first to free him from prison so he could pay you that handsome sum
