Very good post by The Goods!

I agree the tide has turned, the Goods covered it all in his post and a83 comment about social media content is also true. Most of the time AJ Inc is trying to sell a product (not himself) on Instagram, whereas Tyson’s content is largely for the fans.

That’s my neutral opinion .

Nah, Joshua is still way way bigger amongst casuals. He has about 8 million more followers on Insta and about 2 million more followers on Twitter as well.

Exactly. Joshua has proper mainstream and commercial appeal for many different reasons, and all the relevant metrics confirm it. The idea that Fury is now more popular is bizarre tbh.

It depends. If you went round the streets and asked 100 random people you’d get more people voting for AJ. Go around any boxing event (that neither were fighting at) and you’d probably get Fury.

Fair play to Hearn. I don’t like the guy one bit but he knew which market to target. It suddenly became fashionable for non-boxing fans to go along to the boxing, have a couple of beers and sing Sweet Caroline to watch the well-marketed, good looking, role model Olympian. People fell for it and it coincided with Fury’s demise luckily for him.

There is a big difference between who is more present in the nation’s consciousness and who will be best supported in the arena.

AJ has a bigger social media following, but that does consist of a massive amount of true casuals.

Fury’s fans are far more die-hard and I wouldn’t be surprised if they really mobilse come fight night (please let it happen) and dominate the venue.

AJ 's the one who has done the record crowds of 80-90k, even in the USA he did 20k and packed msg. He also set a UK ppv record in his last fight ffs! See, those are facts showing that losing didn't cripple him, it's not just dudes speculating. The guy lost and then did bigger numbers than ever.

As said, on all the metrics it's AJ, a rally speech and some beach training don't change it, a lot of that is just wishfulness

Well, time will tell but I think things have shifted somewhat in the past 12 months. Let’s drag this post up if the fight happens!

I mean AJ's last fight was a PPV record, I just don't buy this narrative of a big dropping stock for him and some massive rise and surpassing from Fury. I am pretty confident we will continue to see AJ ahead in all the indicators, as we see now, but ya, we can evaluate a year from now to be more sure

I don’t think we have a comparable event. When is the last time Fury fought in the UK on a PPV event that was the good side of midnight?

I also think the live audience will consist of more actual boxing fans than the typical AJ fight... and I believe they favour Fury more now.

That said, I have completely given up any confidence I have in predicting the behaviour of the public!!!!
