Is valuev a threat to marcianos record?
Is Nokali Valuev a threat to Marciano's record?
In short, YES. However Valuev must complete these things before even trying to compare with Rocky's record.
1. Reach 49-0-0, with 43 KOs.
2. KO (even defeat) 2 boxing hall-of-famers.
3. Retire undefeated.
Perosnally, I can't see no 2 happening, can anyone else?

>>>Ruiz'll, unfortunately, make it into the IBHOF for being the first Latino World Champion and being a three-time heavyweight titlist.<<<
If it ever happens, that will be the last day that I ever speak of the HOF! I certainly hope there is more integrity in the voters, which I know several and I don't really think that they would ever vote Ruiz in, but it's always a possibility...it will be a truly sad day for boxing if Ruiz is enshrined...at this point! Now if he was to come back, unify the division and beat some tough challengers, then hell yeah, sign him up, but that's about as likely to happen as me winning the heavyweight title.

I'm always amazed at how quickly people forget events. Years from now, if there still is a boxing HOF, they'll look at his cold record and say the numbers are good enough to allow him in. They'll be his old grey-haired compadres by then.barry wrote:>>>Ruiz'll, unfortunately, make it into the IBHOF for being the first Latino World Champion and being a three-time heavyweight titlist.<<<

Well President Bush is not the sharpest spoon in the drawer, fornicate the knife.
As to Jackie Robinson...well if you think that it was only because he was black that his number was retired, then you should really look over his career numbers again!
If William Edward White would have had the number-stats that Robinson did then he would be in the Hall of Fame and would now probably be remembered as the true first black player in major league baseball history. There is a big difference in Robinson and Ruiz...Robinson really was an all-time great, Ruiz never will be!

.311 career hitter. Averaged around 39 doubles a year ar his best, around 16 homers a year, 100+ runs, 80+ RBI's, 30+ stolen bases...not to mention his fielding and also that he had too often play in a very, very hostile and hateful environment most of the time he played.
Also, he roughly missed seven, or eight top years in which he would more than likely have put up great numbers during those years 20 thru 28, he was 28 his first season with the Dodgers.
His stats alone do not grant his jersey being retired in all of baseball, they don't compare to the stats of a Ruth, Williams, or Gehrig, but Robinson was a great player who earned everything he was awarded in baseball, a lot of the reason due to his ethnicity at the time, but it also had a lot to do with his effective play in the game.
Robinson would not have had his number retired by every team on his stats alone, but if he had not put up the very impressive stats that he did, it is doubtful if he would not have had his number retired at all.
Also very impressive is the fact that Robinson led the Dodgers to the pennant in his rookie season and would go on to help the Dodgers to six world series’ during the ten years he played of which they only won one, but then again that was the years of the Yankee’s in which they won 7 word series titles in all during the years Robinson played.

Being in the "Hall of Fame" isn't about making wee records here and there or being the first to do this, that and the other thing...
The "HALL OF FAME" should have an international standard where it demands a certain level of excellance of its entires. (Only the best of the best gan entry to its fabled halls(.
John Ruiz will always go down in my book as a good fighter who foguht hard, but no, he is not a great fighter, nor was he ever.
+ he's certainly no the best of the best...
