Chayaphon Moonsri 54-0
WBC champion with a better record than Floyd Mayweather.
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/383177
Brilliant boxer, but he doesn't get a lot of boxing media attention because he's from Thialand and he fights in a small weight division.

He did sign a deal with GBP, before Covid kicked in.

I doubt any Strawweight fighter will ever get much attention.Perkin Warbeck wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 12:34 WBC champion with a better record than Floyd Mayweather.

Hell I wouldn't doubt that Mayweather is the more well known of the two fighters even in Thailand.

Not aware of former IBF champion Florante Condes, former WBC champion Oswaldo Novoa, former WBO champion Tatsuya Fukuhara and current IBF champion Pedro Taduran, perennial contender Saul Juarez?

I know Fukuhara and Juarez as names I've read on the internet, and that's about it.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 17:22Not aware of former IBF champion Florante Condes, former WBC champion Oswaldo Novoa, former WBO champion Tatsuya Fukuhara and current IBF champion Pedro Taduran, perennial contender Saul Juarez?
I've seen maybe 5 or 6 Strawweight fights in my entire life, and I've watched Boxing religiously for 2 decades.
It just doesn't get any attention, and at this point, I frankly don't care about that.
At one time I would've wanted to see more of these guys, now I've come to realize I ain't missing much.
Re: Chayaphon Moonsri 54-0
Anyone broadcasting his fight in November?

It's not some conspiracy that he's not as well known as FMJ. 105 is the thinnest division in the sport. At least 50 of those wins were against nobodies.

Well of course 105 is the thinnest division same reason as heavyweight is the fattest. Dont be silly

Yea but it's really, really thin these days. Like much more so than when I started following the sport closely back in 2003. You can't even make a top 10 without including a few guys of really questionable quality. A washed 37 year old version of Joyi is still ranked #5 by BoxRec. He hasn't won a meaningful fight since 2012.

They were spectacular...Lopez just a bit more so.

I watched Knockout CP Freshmart fight Live from Thailand at about 3 or 4 AM one morning. I was struck by how different the event looked in Thailand, and how up front the Sponsors were.
I remember seeing Miguel Barrera vs Roberta Leyva in 2002 I believe.
That's about it.

True about Thailand..BUT the same holds true for Argentina,..several sponsors there have their name on the ring and even the most unnotable boxers have a company's logo on their trunks.
I say good for them! Whatever extra money they can earn!

Back in the day Polish fighters used to have temp tattoos of sponsors on their back.AntonioMartin wrote: ↑04 Oct 2020, 02:12gilgamesh wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 23:18Actually Lopez makes up 3 of the ones I've seenAntonioMartin wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 23:14

In Thailand they actually had old guys holding signs with the Sponsors name on it, that they introduced and pointed out before the fights started.AntonioMartin wrote: ↑04 Oct 2020, 02:12gilgamesh wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 23:18Actually Lopez makes up 3 of the ones I've seenAntonioMartin wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 23:14

Probably will lose his title in his first defense outside of Thailand.

Is there any way to watch his November fight?

Is there any reason a Menayothin vs. Freshmart unification doesn't happen in Thailand? I have no idea what the promotional landscape is like over there.

Povetkin is a washed-up 41 year old ranked #4 at heavyweight. Just sayin.jujigatame wrote: ↑03 Oct 2020, 22:09 Yea but it's really, really thin these days. Channel 7 Thailand will have it, at the moment it's unclear on international distribution
They are both backed by the same financial group. It's in their best interest to keep the guys apart. A unification bout is great if fighters can draw more for unified champion, but in reality having these two guys unify take the teams from being able to get 2 sets of paydays to a single one.jujigatame wrote: ↑04 Oct 2020, 11:36 Is there any reason a Menayothin vs. Freshmart unification doesn't happen in Thailand? Given both are also backed by CP Freshmart, they would cut their marketing reach from the sport, so won't want them to unify.

I wouldn't say Povetkin is washed up. He's 41 but HWs often age better than smaller guys. He didn't even seem to hit his prime until his mid-30s and he has multiple solid wins in recent years.Perkin Warbeck wrote: ↑04 Oct 2020, 12:06Povetkin is a washed-up 41 year old ranked #4 at heavyweight.
