Floyd Mayweather: I'm TBE - Not Ali, Marciano or Menayothin!
Floyd Mayweather: I'm TBE - Not Ali, Marciano or Menayothin!
Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather feels confident in his belief that he's the greatest boxer of all-time
In the last few years, the 43-year-old Mayweather has transitioned to a full-time promoter and trainer.
Mayweather is not happy when critics rate him below the likes of legendary boxers like Muhammad Ali and Rocky Marciano.
"Is Ali the same fighter that got beat by a fighter with seven fights? Leon Spinks beat Muhammad Ali when he only had seven fights. What’s the heavyweight guy that Ali fought three times, Ken Norton? Ken Norton really beat Ali three times, go back and look at the fights," Mayweather said to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay.
"Out of all these guys in the history of boxing, I have accomplished more than every fighter in the history of boxing. How many world champions have Rocky Marciano beat? So we already know, I beat more champions that’s going in the hall of fame."
Mayweather is also annoyed with critics who believe WBC strawweight champion Wanheng Menayothin has eclipsed his undefeated run.
Menayothin of Thailand, in 2018, raised his undefeated record to 51-0. He is now 54-0 and is scheduled to go for win number 55 in November.
"I’m 50-0 for a reason. Right now they got a fighter that’s over in Asia that’s 54-0 and they say, ‘This is the new TBE,’ because he’s about to retire," Mayweather said.
"I said, ‘Y’all telling me about this fighter that fought one world champion?’ He’s 54-0 and only beat one world champion? This is who y’all are trying to call TBE? Okay, y’all are some comedians."

FMJ really does get wound up doesn't he?
Re: Floyd Mayweather: I'm TBE - Not Ali, Marciano or Menayothin!
Not Ali, Marciano or Menayothin, not Mayweather either.
The closest to their primes were Castillo, Hatton, Maidana and Cotto.
Canelo wasn't in prime yet, but in this case it's impossible to blame Floyd for facing an opponent not in prime, cause Canelo still was a rising boxer.
And who the hell voted for De La Hoya?

People always seemed to dismiss Floyd wasn't in his prime in some of these fights. People say Canelo wasn't in his prime but he was closer to his than Floyd was to his.

Some of the polls are daft.. Pac was never near his prime, nor was Mayweather for that matter..
ODLH was never in his prime in 2007, no matter who he fought.

Well, Floyd do you know what Leon Spinks with 7 fights has? He has an Olympic Gold medal, it's something that you don't have.In the last few years, the 43-year-old Mayweather has transitioned to a full-time promoter and trainer.
"I said, ‘Y’all telling me about this fighter that fought one world champion?’ He’s 54-0 and only beat one world champion? This is who y’all are trying to call TBE? Okay, y’all are some comedians."
And he is talking about Ken Norton?
Actually Floyd didn't accomplish many important things, not ''more than every fighter''
He doesn't have;
- Olympic gold medal.
- A significant win or a single significant fight outside of your own home United States, all of your fights are in United States. As Tyson Fury said to Anthony Joshua, he should fight outside of your own home country to prove yourself on the ''world stage''.
- An undisputed championship in any weight class, just like Evander Holyfield said that Floyd didn't win an undisputed championship in any weight class.
- Long title defenses while keeping the belt, and he is talking about beating ''champions'', that's the point Floyd, the point is you shouldn't let others to be a champion and you should remain an undisputed champion for a while and not let others to be a champion, that's the whole point of this thing.

Says the guy who fought a MMA fighter making his pro boxing debut to go "50-0"..
How that doesn't count as an exhibition is beyond me...
Undefeated doesn't mean TBE.

Of course not, but I'd think him much more foolish if he didn't think he was the best. He only had a handful of competitive fights and never was legitimately down. Langford or greb for me.

You're talking to a guy who thinks khabib could use his defense to last 11 rounds with Floyd.

Show me a single fight that Khabib gets knockdown by anyone first... Then you can dream about 43 years old defensive fighter Floyd with pillow punches will KO him on the ring while Khabib was fighting defensively only.

If you knew anything about fighting, then you would knew Khabib's reach and distance control is perfect, which is why he doesn't even get knockdown by even the best kickboxers in mma, he also controls his distance and reach from kicks, not only punches. If Khabib only fights defensively, 43 years old defensive counter puncher Floyd is not going not to going to KO him, never. Your Khabib obsession is ridiculous, stop bringing this to the other threads.

Then that means; we can also deny the results on paper, which means Floyd definitely lost to; - Castillo first fight, - Maidana first fight, - De La Hoya fight.
According to Floyd's own argument; Floyd is not undefeated, and he lost several times.
There are also tons of other arguments that I can use, but that alone should be enough for you now.

That certainly makes sense.
Re: Floyd Mayweather: I'm TBE - Not Ali, Marciano or Menayothin!
Appreciate Floyd may not be a natural welterweight but that’s the weight he largely campaigned in - with that in mind, I don’t even think Floyd’s the best welterweight Although he’d be up there. I can’t see him beating Hearns (I don’t believe he was aggressive enough to do what Leonard did), I don’t think he could beat Leonard (who was too active, more skilled offensively and arguably on par or maybe less than defensively skilled). I also doubt that Floyd could have done what Leonard did to Hagler. Clearly a legendary fightEr (Mayweather) but I can’t put him above Leonard.

I agree, I think he would have struggled to beat a prime DLH or Mosley at WW also.lazboy wrote: ↑06 Oct 2020, 02:51 Appreciate Floyd may not be a natural welterweight but that’s the weight he largely campaigned in - with that in mind, I don’t even think Floyd’s the best welterweight Although he’d be up there. On that, I watched Mosley DLH 1 a few months back. My god what a fight. My guess is also that both were pedded to the gills. Non-stop action and hard punching. Don't hear about that fight enough in my opinion.
