For all the Skysports bashers out there, you'd have loved what Arum labelled them..."money grabbers"

Effectively accused them of 'taking' from the sport as opposed to supporting it.

From what I can tell Sky made an offer for the fight, Arum turned it down due to the low amount so they went with Fite TV to do it as a PPV as no one else (including BT) made an offer.

Not sure whether that makes Sky money grabbers (obviously see where he’s coming from given the upcoming 3 PPVs) but doesn’t the deal make Bob the money grabber?!

No, sky are serving up their boxing customers shite sandwiches, journeymen heavies as PPV “stars” lol, and their non PPV cards are bottom of the barrel stuff- But they take a pass on the really big fights that count like this ..plus I’m guessing they’re not gonna show the tank fight either. Absolute travesty

I know there is a pandemic and SKY/BT/ITV don't want to dip into their pockets but to put this into context in the USA this bout is free to air.

I am not convinced this a PPV and although it is only a tenner staying up till 7am Sunday watching a potentially one sided bout not appealing.

Theres a decent UFC fight on BT that night so they are not interested. Shows that MMA is well on the way to taking over boxing.

My point was that it was just a bit Rich what Bob was saying. He turned down an offer from Sky to show the fight to show it in the U.K. via online PPV and then he calls Sky greedy.

They’re all greedy - Bob just as much as the rest of the them.

I don’t disagree that that Chisora isn’t a standalone PPV star but if it’s a choice of having the fight on PPV or having Chisora/Usyk fight poor opponents then I’d rather have the choice of getting the PPV because it’s a good fight.

Re: the normal Sky shows being bottom of the barrel - I’m not sure what shows you’ve been watching. For me the quality of the post lockdown shows on Sky have been a lot better than those of BT - far more well matched rather than consistently one sided main events with another one (at least on paper) coming this weekend. Credit though re: their announcement on Dubois vs Joyce.

Eddie points out rightly to Boxing News that 4am boxing doesn't draw viewers or money. Which is correct.

But of course Eddie and Adam Smith have also spent the last 2 years filling the holes in the UK schedule by pointing to US Shows that they have put on Sky including some classics such as Chavez Jnr Vs Jacobs.....

We all spend far too much time listening to all these .

Bottom line is the quality of the fight. And Lomachenko V Lopez is superb. £9.99 is fine, but disappointing not to have been picked up by Sky Sports, BT Sports or even to herald the return of allegedly.

I agree, it's way more popular with under 30's.

I actually prefer watching it to boxing now. Boxing on average is shite, too few meaningful matchups ever happen in fighters primes, and when they finally happen they are often boring as fcuk. Way too many mistmatches and keep busy fights for the big names as well.

I still love a really good boxing match, but there are very few of then.

If Sky's boxing dept was actually independent of matchroom there is no way sky would not dearly want such a fight on their channel - it is what they (are meant to) do. No sports channel in the world would not want this fight.

It is quite an accomplishment to make Chisora vs Usyk a PPV show, they do have a bit of a captive market and even if they don't break records, everyone seems to come out of it very nicely. I think a promoter who puts youtube stars on telly should try a bit harder to deliver a fight of this quality for its UK fans who bankroll his TV contract through subscriptions.

Lopez is a brilliant fighter, and the sky’s the limit no matter which way this fight goes. Unfortunately, I just don’t think he’s had enough big fights to pull off the upset. Loma is in a different dimension from Commey and the challenger will feel that difference within the opening seconds. But as much as I’m painting doom and gloom for Lopez, I still believe that he will have big moments this fight.
