Alen 'The Savage' Babic
Alen 'The Savage' Babic
This affable fella has been getting loads of airtime and he has covid and Dillian Whyte to thank for that, normally a limited lightish heavyweight slugger would be stashed on some undercard in a leisure centre somewhere.
But i like the guy, he is a character and this 'poundland Mike Tyson' wants to see how far his style will get him.
Tom Little seems to have talked himself into a 15k payday to take on the savage next time out (?..Dillians undercard 21 Nov)and promises to 'school him'. Personally I think Tom Little, although a bit awkward, possesses no threat at all to Babic and will be retired in 5-7 rounds. At least it gives us more chance to see what Babic has got. Tom Littles best win is a points nudge against Sokolowski...........Tom Little does not bring much danger to the Babic table. I think Tom realises that but wants to 'cash in'.
The next fight after Little should possible be Dave Allen. Dave is durable and rugged and not difficult to hit, but can bang. I think style wise it would be a great fight. If Babic can beat Allen, maybe myself and the rest of UK fans can start taking Babic seriously.
But.....If he beats Dave Allen.......then who next? David Price? Nick Webb? Kash Ali?

Are him and Hrgovic pals?
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
Both one-dimensional, but Hrgovic more hyped. If fancy Filip now but I’m just praying Hrgovic gets a fair step up sometime where I can go against him at good odds
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
I'm loving the show so far ! Boxing needs guys like Babic IMO. He just gets in there and starting chucking bombs, they can't all be Lomachenkos.
As long as he gives the fans entertainment & value it will be a enjoyable ride...until the wheels come off !
He's also good when the mic is put in front of him and just seems to create a very upbeat feeling
He dealt with Kennedy well IMO and I can't wait until his next fight.
Good luck to the guy

Both of them have a lot to prove, but Hrgovic is at least proven just a little bit, while Babic isn't at all. Babic just KOed a couple of absolute nobodies. Hrgovic got few scalps, which were credible at the more or less high level. Hrgovic also looks more sound technically and bad stylistically for Babic.

Him vs Sokolowski over 8 would be good.
He’s fighting Tom Little on the Whyte card tho. Hopefully they come out and announce that sharpish just so Little doesn’t have any excuse on not being given notice. I’d imagine the 8 weeks or so it is until that fight is gonna be the best notice he will have been given for any fight. He will outweigh Babic by 30-40lbs and be able to say Babic ain’t anywhere near the best he’s faced.

Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
So far he's been fun to watch, that'll do for me
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
he is a bit of a novelty for now but at 14 stone he is not a real HW , and as soon as meets a proper one will get the reality check ... think he could do well at CW tho.
I didnt think he performed that well at the weekend against a big lump of standing target , he was just swinging like a friday night crackerjack : until the guy folded , and then afterwards said he couldnt show how good a boxer he is against this level of opponent .

Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
He's entertaining, but enjoy him while he lasts.
He's too small to compete with the big boys. He's got a relentless work rate, much like Joe Joyce, but in reality if these two were ever to fight, Babic would be swatted away like a fly.
He's fleshy as it is at weighing in cruiserweight. He could probably make light heavy if he dieted and dehydrated right.

Allen vs Alen
Alen would at least beat Allen up for a while. Allen just simply ain't that good and eats punches, often fighting like homer simpson. Depends how Alen's stamina holds up though, he could gas and fall apart and Allen might be able to get him then.

slugfest garant....
Eddy make us happy
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
He's a fun watch but part of the circus boxing has become. Eddie will play it smart, build up his personality, give him some knockover jobs and then feed him to a proper heavyweight.
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
I think boxing has always had these Tony Galento guys. Love Babic. He's a video game style opponent. Really good but with obvious shortcomings. I hope the guy collects more wins. He either wins by stoppage or runs out of gas. Getting he right matches where that tipping points hangs in the balance will create great drama.
I don't want to see Babic in with knockover jobs but neither do I want to see him in out of his depth.

Good post
Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
Shades of Kimbo Slice. He will be shown up sooner rather than later I think.

When I'm on my own with nothing on my mind I like to occasionally say:
Alen "The Savage" Babic
...in this commentator voice of fashioned for myself over the years.
Just a little verbal tonic to help me through my day.

tbf to babic, he was an experienced am with some good am wins and experience in a number of international eveents, and good wins so far for only 5 fights, not like he's a scrub or freak show, it's more like he's a guy who could probably make lhw fighting with a limited style that is probably the worst to have when youre so small for your diivsion

Re: Alen 'The Savage' Babic
It's a bit of a weird one, as you say, decent amateur not bad at HW for 5 fights, fun, wild, power but could make Light Heavy, can't see where his style would suit down there or at Cruiser but for some reason looks more suited to Heavyweight, christ knows what I'm getting at, bit of an enigma, if people are in good fights I'm in, his resume is pretty different to most 5 fight prosmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Oct 2020, 15:03 tbf to babic, he was an experienced am with some good am wins and experience in a number of international eveents, and good wins so far for only 5 fights, not like he's a scrub or freak show, it's more like he's a guy who could probably make lhw fighting with a limited style that is probably the worst to have when youre so small for your diivsion

Ya, as much criticism as he's got he's done well for sure for only 5 fights and is fun to boot
