Alexander Povetkin was given a hero's welcome as he landed back down in Russia after producing one of the best punches of his career to knockout Dillian Whyte.

The heavyweight was greeted inside the airport with a ceremony of music and was crowned in a black hat and given a black coat to wear.

Povetkin appeared shocked and somewhat discomfited by the reception as performers dressed in traditional green and red outfits sung and danced around him while fans watched on.

His face in the still puts me off watching, I love him when i agree with him especially when he's ranting about poor officiating but he gets on my tits when I disagree, even if a close fight goes against his score he goes nuclear

I know, is that really the image they deliberately chose for the thumbnail and thought “this will attract viewers” :maybe:

According to Ruiz, Whyte has been one of the most vocal trash talkers in the heavyweight division - and is now looking for sympathy in the wake of his knockout loss.

"Stop playing the victim card bro...You talk all this sh-t, disrespect your opponents at weigh-ins, post stupid memes and now we gotta feel sorry for you cause you got KO’d? Get the f--k out of here," Ruiz stated.

So much for Maximum Violence.

He was on the wrong end of that.. :yay:

Actually, Whyte isn't making people feel sorry for him. Or am I missing something? I only remember different biased bellends crying about how much they sorry for Whyte. They are better to comment tennis or soccer and this is boxing FFS.

As far as I can tell, Whyte himself seems to have handled the defeat with good grace.

Whyte's been nailed on 3 occasions now because of the uppercut - Joshua, Rivas, Povetkin. My god Sasha's punch was the biggest of them all, Whyte wasn't even hurt before it landed but he was out on his feet.
