shame if it dosent count, one of yokas best wins on paper. dont realy like that this can happen though, would rather the fight stay up on the page with an astricks or a note saying pending investigation, even if it was listed as a no contest pending investigation.

The fact that its just gone makes me aware of the possibility that more fights that have happened might just be disapeared but wernt high profile enough for me or others to notice about.

Several years ago there was a "tournament" style HW competition that was listed and a few low-level fighters did pretty well, but then those fights disappeared. I went looking for info and it turned out there was some technicality that made them exhibitions.

Sucks for the fighters involved who made a bit of a name for themselves then had that taken away. And different than the WSB, which attracts pretty high-level fighters since they get paid but don't risk their "0" by losing, as they go in knowing those count as "pro exhibition"

This tournament used kickboxing rules with no legs. It was not pro boxing.

Yes, it was Bigger's Better. Mairis Briedis had a lot of fights there. From what I've heard Bigger's Better allowed backfist punches and this is why they removed them.

Yes, they were under modified kickboxing rules: backfisting was allowed, shoes were optional etc.

The rules were available in Bigger's Better -website at the time. If website is gone, you can probably not find tem anywhere anymore. And, yes, backfist being allowed was the main difference in the rules.

Now, it is true that no one really ever used that technique and it was indeed "true boxing" in practice. But the tournament organisers deliberately made it to be "kickboxing without kicks" to avoid things like

- participants having legit boxing licenses
- fights having been held under the supervision of boxing commissions
- fighters required to undergo full set of brain scans, blood tests etc. (requirements in European pro boxing, but not in kickboxing, not to the same extent)

Briedis lost to Ivica Bacurin in Croatia. It was reported as controversial, but I didn't watch it. Constantin Bejenaru won the whole event.

Thanks saliman!!!

Originally some of these tournaments appeared here (mostly the ones held in countries without an active boxing commission or own editor) based on results as seen in tv.

After the rules were found out, they were all taken down as it was clearly not officially "boxing".

If the results could be found somewhere, they could now be re-inserted under Kick-Boxing section - although that would be a bit shady too... ...kicks/sweeps having not been allowed after all.

Thank you Petu, Is there any clue that could confirm that it was indeed a fight under the rules of the BB or an organization other than boxing?

Ha! I'm glad you were able to come up with what I was talking about based on my vague description. I never knew there was a different ruleset--many of the boxers were HWs I was tracking at the time

I found some of the fights I expelled from the dataset when they were ruled invalid:

//BB 2010 05 07 PAVEL ZHURAVLEV UD 3 GBENGA OLOUKUN
//BB 2010 05 07 MAIRIS BRIEDIS UD 3 PAVEL ZHURAVLEV

//BB 2011 04 15 ED MONSO PTS 3 KONSTANTIN AIRICH
//BB 2011 04 15 NIKO FALIN TKO 1 ED MONSO // tournament

//BB 2011 12 16 CONST BEJENARU UD 3 ED MONSO // tournament r1
//BB 2011 12 16 IVICA BACURIN UD 3 MAIRIS BRIEDIS // tournament r1
//BB 2011 12 16 IVICA BACURIN KO 2 NIKO FALIN // tournament r2
//BB 2011 12 16 CONST BEJENARU MD 3 IVICA BACURIN // tournament finals

//BB 2012 04 13 AGIT KABAYEL UD 3 CLAUS BERTINO // r1 tournament
//BB 2012 04 13 EVGENY ORLOV UD 3 AGIT KABAYEL // r2 tournament

//BB 2012 07 06 MAIRIS BRIEDIS SD 4 PAVEL ZHURAVLEV

//BB 2012 08 24 FABRICE AURIENG TD 3 AGIT KABAYEL

//BB 2012 11 16 SERGEJ MASLOBOJEV SD 3 KONSTANTIN AIRICH

//BB 2012 12 13 ALEX MAZIKIN UD 3 EVGENY ORLOV 12
//BB 2012 12 13 MAIRIS BRIEDIS UD 3 SERGEJ MASLOBOJEV 12
//BB 2012 12 13 FABRICE AURIENG UD 3 ALEX MAZIKIN 12
//BB 2012 12 13 MAIRIS BRIEDIS KO 12 FABRICE AURIENG 12

These are incomplete results since I only track certain fighters, and wins over "unimportant" fighters don't make the cut - I keep a much smaller, more easily managed dataset than BoxRec :D

I think it'd be better to start a new thread about Bigger's Better to prevent too much off-topic here.

Biggers Better is not the only one tournament with strange rules between boxing and kickboxing . There was also Tough Fight Tournament with no breaks between rounds in small ring , lots of White Collar, TV Shows , some tournament in Spain between current pro boxers and current amateur boxers etc.

Let’s better boxrec.com stick to conventional pro boxing and conventional pro kickboxing . There are still a lot of to insert in both these sports.

i wonder if there could be an 'other sports' section added to the records, for something like bigger is better that is obviously still an notable thing that is good to know about, but doesnt quite fit the others

So it seems that we've just moved on with the fact that the event is hidden? Clearly, nothing seems to be out of order about this fight and nobody cares about it. It's interesting how they will anounce Yoka's record in the future. 8-0 or 7-0?

Yoka's Wikipedia entry still shows the bout. So at least there will be a discrepancy until someone tries to resolve it.

And now this event not added from France as well? "Pending Approval". So many inaccuracicies recently. Those French editors are not doing their job. If they decided to hide Yoka vs Duhaupas then maybe they decided to not update the fight when local favorite lost?
